VeggieTales Family Devotional, by Cindy Kenney and Doug Peterson

Reviewed by Amy B

Another great way to enjoy VeggieTales is the new VeggieTales Family Devotional. It is colourful and very kid friendly. In other words, very typical VeggieTales material. It can be used alone or in addition to the newer VeggieTales curriculum, since both focus on faith, communication, love, trust, time and joy. There are 52 devotions in all, including special devotions for New Years, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Each devotion has eight sections and starts off with a story, the Veggie Connection, played out by the beloved VeggieTales characters, as an introduction to that day's devotion. Then comes the God Connection, where a bit more of the story is complimented with events from the Bible. Family Fun Connection is the next part of each devotion, something related to the lesson that is fun for everyone. Afterwards, Larry always asks three questions in the Cucumber Connection, to get the family thinking even more. Think-Link-Act, well, that section is pretty self-explanatory as reinforcement to help apply what was learned. Lastly, every devotion contains an interesting bible fact and a brief closing, consisting of scripture and prayer.

If you don't yet have a devotional book for your kids, this would be a great choice. Most kids of all ages enjoy VeggieTales and this devotional is meant for the whole family to enjoy.
