Tommy Books by Mark Brown

Reviewed by Amy B

Tommy Books is a series of ten books, written to help parents explain different concepts of their faith to their children. This series is authored by Mark Brown, a well known screenwriter and director. The illustrations are by Pete Mekis, whose work includes Dora the Explorer and King of the Hill.

The whole series, geared toward 3-10 year olds addresses the topics of faith, love, too busy, praise, kings, fear, forgiveness, who am I?, grace and mercy, and thank you. I was sent the first five books of this series to review. They are written a in very simple and easy to understand way. Also, the wonderfully detailed illustrations will aid in keeping the attention of the younger half of the intended age group while adding to the reading enjoyment of the upper half. At the end of each book is a bible verse which was used for inspiration while writing the book and the verses would be great for memorization. Lastly, there are several pages where the child can take notes about what he or she has learned.
