It's a great alternative to "crying it out" and "correcting sleep problems" roster of methods. Why? Lull-A-Baby is about prevention of sleep problems! It's a method aimed at gently teaching your baby to fall asleep on his own during the WOO (Window of Opportunity) that exists for good sleep habits to naturally develop for a baby.
One of the crux's of the Lull-A-Baby method is timing. It's a matter of when to start Lull-A-Baby (the WOO), and the timing and ritual of putting your baby down to sleep before she's actually fallen asleep, so she can learn to fall asleep on her own. The book contains a wealth of information to make this timing and routine be established as smoothly as possible.
Too often sleep problems are an afterthought. There are many innocent mistakes parents make that interfere with a babies ability to learn to fall asleep by themselves. Lull-A-Baby can give a new parent the advantage, and keep mom and dad out of the seemingly never-ending "bedtime struggles" club later on. This book should come with every baby shower gift basket out there!
At the end of the book, Dr. Tobin also provides a Lull-A-Baby method for parents who've missed the WOO.
