Simple Hospitality, by Jane Jarrell
Reviewed by Amy B
Short and easy read, Simple Hospitality offers much advice for those who are lacking in the gift of hospitality or feel they are in desperate need of more time. We all know there are never enough hours in the day. We often feel stressed by it. Personally, I've felt inadequate more times than I'd like to admit. We've all probably felt that way before. That doesn't mean we are incapable of using the gift of hospitality to edify others.
So many aspects of hospitality are covered in this jam-packed book. A few of the topics are homemaking, the busy holidays, gardening, decorating your home and teaching your kids about hospitality. Interspersed throughout the book are Scripture references and very simple and easy to follow recipes.
The only parts of the book I wasn't exactly thrilled with were a couple sections where the author offers tips in giving the appearance of something you have done, but really have not. However, with massive amounts of helpful information, as a reader, I gleaned from Simple Hospitality the advice and suggestions that best helped me and disregarded what didn't.
Likely the best point throughout this book is hospitality shouldn't be all about entertaining, but more about loving and serving one another.
