Protect Your Child from Kidnappers
Reviewed by Amy
Kenny Love, a former police and prison correctional officer, has written a report about child abductions. "Protect Your Child from Kidnappers!" Contained in this report are statistics, agencies to contact for assistance, and suggestions about what to discuss and teach your children to keep them safe.
One of the government agencies you may want to contact is the U.S. State Department, to have your child's name entered into their "passport name check system." If someone abducts your child and then tries to get a passport for him or her, you will be notified. Mr. Love also says you should insist on filing a "local" report if your child is missing. He says the "National Child Search Assistance Act" prohibits local police departments from insisting there be a "waiting period" before filing it.
The report contains suggestions for teaching your child about strangers, such as never approaching a car and never accepting gifts, unless you have given permission. Also, it is recommended that your child learn his or her home phone number and address as early as possible. Finally, there are also tips regarding a child who is old enough to be home alone and safely getting back and forth to school.
