No More Jellyfish, Chickens or Wimps by Paul Coughlin

Reviewed by Rachel

“Raising secure, assertive kids in a tough world” flanks the title of this book. Like the first book I reviewed of his, No More Christian Nice Guy, this is prompted by a Christian misconception that “nice” equates with “good”. Mr. Coughlin delves into the widespread hazards of helicopter parenting a brood of timid, anxiety-filled, and socially defenceless, albeit “nice” children. He gives advice on boundaries, dealing with bullying, and sexual abuse prevention, and other problems in which helicopter parenting can be a detrimental factor. He counters, encouraging parents to raise children to be assertive and stand up for themselves, and for others, with integrity and courage.
