Mommy, Come Home by Sandra Gillmore

Reviewed by Amy B

Sandra Gillmore takes a very bold stand in her just released book, "Mommy, Come Home". Scripture, along with her personal convictions, support the main theme that a mother should be at home, taking care of her family.

Dad, grandma, or an in-home day care provider just isn't the way God intended His children to be raised. Moms need to take the time to teach and influence their children, even home schooling, if necessary. In her book, she acknowledges that boredom and loneliness can be a problem for stay-at-home moms. However, she provides suggestions and personal examples of how she dealt with some of the emotions Satan uses to discourage us.

Most Christian mothers agree that raising children and taking care of the household is primarily the woman's responsibility. However, one of the more controversial arguments of the book is a woman does not need to work outside the home if the family lifestyle is altered. A home-based business is even discussed and discouraged.

Mrs. Gillmore shares many personal stories about herself and her family as encouragement for moms who already do, or feel the conviction to stay at home. Since our culture, the media and sometimes our government is not fighting for our families, we mothers certainly need to protect them and complete the main task God has given us.
