Imposter by Davis Bunn

If you prefer suspenseful novels without gore or any eerie supernatural or psychological aspects, then you will likely enjoy reading "Imposter."

Matt Kelley, a newbie federal agent, sets out to take control of the investigation into a bombing that has personally affected him. Someone has leaked bogus information in order to draw attention to the wrong suspect, and he wants to make sure the correct killer is brought to justice.

In order to accomplish his goal, Matt must facilitate co-operation among the rival organisations involved in the case. At the same time he's dealing with his own personal issues. He also has to overcome many obstacles put in his way by someone who doesn't want him to uncover the truth in the crime. Causing further frustration, his father who's in the midst of a political campaign, is very unhelpful and hurtful towards Matt for placing the investigation as a higher priority than his campaign.

Surprisingly, along with the action, danger and mystery in "Imposter" you will also find some romance to lighten the plot a bit. It keeps you guessing, trying to figure out who the bomber and what the motive is.
