Dare to Dream! 25 Extraordinary Lives
Reviewed by Rachel Lower
Reading "Dare to Dream" by Sandra McLeod Humphrey has started a biography craze in my life. Her book is targeted to grade school age children and young adults, but very much inspiring and motivating to any and all readers.
If you worry about the pop tart influences on your daughter or the worldly images of excess feed to your son on a daily basis via mainstream cultures idols, this compilation of short biographies is a refreshing break for them. A break from fantasy, into what they could really accomplish with their own lives. No kid should be carried away by the pressure to emulate a manufactured pop image when they can see real people making a difference and be inspired to do something extraordinary themselves.
The worlds standards set aside, you child can see that our planet has much more to offer than popularity, good looks and cash.
Second only to the biblical example of Christ, "Dare to Dream!" includes the life stories of twenty-five people who've made a positive impact on society, such as Abe Lincoln, Nellie Bly, Jackie Robinson, and Eleanor Roosevelt.
