Dangerous Depths by Colleen Coble

This novel has it all: adventure, suspense, mystery, and best of all, romance! The story is set in the beautiful Hawaiian Islands and unfolds around the main character, Leia Kahale. After leaving what was starting to look like a successful medical career in the contiguous states, which further alienated her from her mother, Leia settles down on one of the more secluded islands in her home state.
She longs for a simpler life, while helping and caring for the residents surrounding her new home. In addition to escaping from a career she no longer desired, she was also running from the man who was the love of her life, Bane Oanu.
Once Bane comes back into Leia's life, one event after another (not to mention the love they still have for each other) keeps their lives intertwined, no matter how desperately she tries to keep it otherwise. They have mutual friends and know and love each other's families. Making it even more difficult, they also share a love of scuba diving and end up on an underwater treasure hunting expedition together.
Dangerous Depths is definitely a page turner right from the start, having a little of everything to keep most readers entertained. It was also really enjoyable to learn a little about Hawaiian culture and language.
