Cold Noses At The Pearly Gates

Reviewed by Amy B

Some of you know that a couple of my dogs passed away this past year. It has been a very sad year in that regard. It seems most Christians believe once an animal dies, that is it. That they have no spirit or soul. That is why their death is so very sad for pet owners and animal lovers, believing that they will never see their beloved companions again.

Within weeks after the death of our second dog, I received a copy of Cold Noses At The Pearly Gates, by Gary Kurz. In his introduction, Mr. Kurz tells about himself, his motivation for writing about this topic, and how he obtained information about pets in the afterlife. While there isn't any scripture that bluntly tells us one way or another what happens to our beloved pets, Mr. Kurz does refer to several verses throughout the book. However, since God does not provide us with any concrete answers, deductive reasoning must be used.

I've always reluctantly believed the majority of Christians who think animals have no afterlife. Although I'm not one hundred percent convinced otherwise, this book did give me something to ponder. A very good argument was made for the afterlife for the pets we love.

Note from Rach: I am one of those that believe my furry friends present, past, and future will run around my residence in the new age, if not heaven. Why not?!
