Default wondering...

Ladies. This might stir something up... not sure. But wanted to put this question out there:

Is it really leaving it up to God when you follow your ovulation cycle so closely with charting and temping? And then analyzing everything?

I do get that some people have to do that but I just feel as though you give up control to God but then try to take it back by taking control?

Just not sure what the balance is there??

Any insights?

I've often wondered that myself. I mean NFP is a form of birth control imo...just a natural one... I guess it is better than the other alternatives out there. But then again - I believe each couple should pray and ask God to show them what he wants for their family. So if God's leads one to use NFP, then it would be God led, right?

I think it is okay. I think God gave us these signs to know and to have some sense of control. We still need to be wise when it comes to birth control. I do think that if a person begins to blame God and starts saying "i'm doing my part why aren't you doing yours"? then they need to step back because they are no longer trusting in God's will.
I struggled with this and then realized that I needed to step back and quit getting discouraged and upset each month. I still took my temps but I didn't obsess and two months later I got pregnant with Josiah.

so to answer the question. I think it is okay as long as you maintain the right spirit about it.

Not sure anyone has the capability to take control from God, at least as far as making a life is concerned. Plus I've tried almost every legit thing with no results. Then we've all heard of people trying everything not to get pregnant and it still happens.

I don't see any sin in NFP, adoption, etc., as long as a person is following God's lead. Deciding to step out on a partner just to have a child would be one of the sinful ideas related to ttc... and we even have stories of that in the Bible.. I do think it's really that simple.

I think it's ok if you don't get "obsessed" with it and if you are trusting God with it as with anything else... anyway... at the end is GOD and only GOD who can put life in a womb .... isn't HE?

We plant.... and He is the one who gives the growth

we work and He is the one who provides

we pray, go to the doctor, etc... and He is the one who heals

...

Hugs!

Paloma.

Ooooo. I like that. Good explanation of it!
God did give us brains to use but yes if it becomes a compulsion you gotta check yourself again.

There's always someone else out there that can put things into words better.
