Default white blood cells in urine

About a month ago we noticed that Grayce was just not herself. not being one to rush to the doctors we decided to wait and see. no fever, no upset stomach, she was pale, sleeping more, falling alseep at odd times, not eating much and drinking lots, and really cranky. hubby is a diabetic so of course that's what we thought first. no that is fine. so I took her in to the doctors. He thoroughly checked her over, and then did a urine sample as she has had issues in the past (nitrates) she has an overly larger bladder. anyways test showed she had a large amount of white blood cells in her urine. he prescribe antibiotics, and said that her kidneys are irritated. 10 day course of meds, she improves, off of them for not even 1 week and we notice the signs returning. this time we take in her in right away. white blood cells in her urine again. her put her back on the antibiotic. aDoc thinks that maybe it not an uti, and possibly she may have some issues with her kidney .she now has an appointment with the urologist on Jan 13.

Has anyone else gone though anything else like this themselves or with their children. We are hesitant about doing the second 10 day course anitbiotic.

I've never dealt with this with any of our kids. I'm sure your doc explained that blood cells are not normally found in urine or the genito-urinary system. Where there's the presence of white blood cells, there's either infection or inflammation. I'm sure they're running labs to see if they can isolate a microorganism that causing infection. If that comes up negative, they'll look for other reasons for inflammation, like cysts or even allergies. They'll probably run tests to measure kidney function and maybe ultrasound or x-ray to sort of map out the kidneys, checking their size and shape.

Praying they figure out what's causing this, dear sister.

Though I can not offer any wisdom on your daughters ailments I would like to offer some prayer for her. I am so glad you shared her name "Grayce" as I love to be specific in prayer for my fellow sisters here. Please continue to keep us posted on what they find.

We did months of repeatitive antibiotics for ear infections though and it was awful, wouldn't ever do it again for multiple reasons. But I don't want to go against medical advice that may be needed for your baby girl.

This must be scary in a way, its so hard to see our kids not right, hugs. Millions of things go through a moms mind. Please continue to persue this as you seem to really know something isn't right and your not real happy to do just another round of antib.

hugs and prayers.

Poor little peanut.. I dislike antibiotics, especially being a female, they mess up your body so badly.. And with all the medically resistant staph that's been in the news, it frightens me that bacteria can change itself and become more dangerous.. I totally understand your apprehension.. Freaks me out too..

Have you thought about doing a probiotic supplement to counter the antibiotics and promote urinary health? Natural food stores sell lactobacillus and bifidobacterium flora in a capsule that has virtually no side effects.. It helps yur poop too. It's like ingesting a boatload of yogurt, but without the sugars..

I was getting bladder infections partly caused by my expanding uterus putting pressure on my bladder (another lovely pregnancy side effect).. I can't empty it all the way, and it gives me UTIs.. Then I'd get a yeast infection from the antibiotics, it was a mess.. But since I've started taking probiotics, I haven't had any problems..

Some people are nervous about the entire holistic health movement, but it's not all bad, and some people thrive with it.. It's been great for me, I'd just soon avoid antibiotics where I can..

I sure hope she feels better, nothing wrecks your week like bladder issues..
