Default What's the best thing about having an elementary schooler?

Do you love being able to go places and do fun things together?
Do you love seeing them learn new things?

Tell us!

Yes, I like that they are learning new things. I also like how honest they are. They don't hide feelings & are still open about them.
I also like that they bring home things from school all the time. Pictures they drew or painted that are pictures of them holding mom/dad's hand or playing w/ brother/sister. I see that they think about us/each other even when they are away (melts heart)
They have great dreams for their lives ahead of them. They still believe in anything & they dream big. I love that!! Their imagination is still strong!!!!

I guess my favorite thing about my elementary schooler is her eagerness to learn. She loves school! Its refreshing to me because its about the only thing she doesn't turn into a battle of wills!

lol I was thinking the same thing. They stink, they wind each other up and are always tattling on each other. But as I type this, and they are so sound asleep upstair... maybe thats the best thing about elementary schoolers. when they are sleeping. Im only ...joking... honest.... I love them to bits. They are insane and even when they are winding each other up, they make me laugh. My 7yo elementary schooler is at a different stage than my 9yos. The 7yo, he's still got such a vivid imagination and he's always creating a paper robot or a paper robot army and then I gotta fight him with his paper robot army. lol. My 9yo's are growing into such lovely young ladies, except when they are farting, burping, or generally stinking up the place. But they think they are such ladies, they just make me laugh! I do love to take them on walks, checking out the nature and whatnot. they are so inquisitive.

I totally forgot I have one in elementary school Whoops! I was thinking preschool still
ok, I think with my ds it is seeing him progress and learn, any kind of progress for us is huge. I love his excitement and eagerness with new things and also his excitement and perseverance!!
Going places is hard for us sometimes, but he loves the library, he loves the park, and right now his most favorite thing is going out to see our new house under construction!

I love how her eyes light up when she is excited about something or figures something out. They just sparkle! I also think it is cool when they choose to do the right thing or do something because they are trying to be nice.

I love that he can do all sorts of adult type things... read his Bible, play Quiddler, play Rock Band, walk all the way around the zoo by himself - no need for a stroller, pick out his own clothes... he already has more fashion sense than dh. LOL.

LOVE IT!

Young enough to hug and kiss but old enough for mom to get a break from constantly doing things for 3 kids.
