Brett (9) got his letter assigning his 4th grade teacher last week. I can say that the name looked familiar but not much so. I had called the school on Friday to ask about the student planner she had requested. She called me back last night to tell me that she hadn't even seen the list the school had sent home. She then proceeds to tell me that we are "related". I'm thinking Well I know her name was familiar.
Turns out that dh's grandmother is married to her dh's grandfather. Now I have been in the family for 12 yrs and her 9 yrs. I have dinner 3 out of 4 Sundays a month at my inlaws and his grandmother and stepgrandfather are always there. They visit my home at least 1 time a month. I can't believe I have never met her. When I mentioned it to MIL she said "Kristen is not teacher!" I say yes she is and this is her first year teaching. I don't understand why I haven't met her and we are talking a very small family and now even though they are not blood related wonder if it would be a conflict to leave Brett in that class. He is an A student and gets along very well with others. Alicia |

if you've never met her, I'm assuming Bret hasn't either, right? If so, I wouldn't worry about it, just ask the teacher to keep the relationship between the two of you. i don't think there would be a problem.

Alicia, I don't think it would be a problem. I had my 2nd cousin as a teacher in elementary school. I think you need to do what makes you comfortable, but as long as you don't have a long standing relationship with her so that she might be bias w/Brett I think everything will be just fine.

Maybe it is a blessing and God is providing you with a unique opportunity for your so with a teacher who might be more tender towards him.
