Has anyone ever bought one of these. They are made by step2. I recently saw one in babytalk this week. Hubby and I thought it would be perfect for DD's upcoming birthday(her first birthday). My mom said she would go in halves with us so it will not be so costly. She loves to splash water. We have a bird bath out front that she loves for us to hold her up to. We live in an area that is hot for most of the year and I see it can be used for years to come...so I think it's a good investment. If you have bought one of these did:
You child enjoy it? Is it very durable? Did you think it was worth the price? Normally I get great deals on toys at our local thrift stores...so this will be the biggest purchase...toy wise...we have made. I was just wondering if it was worth it. |

I bought it for my boys last summer and they loved it. It was mostly for youngest ds as he was 3 then, he's 4 now and I plan to get it out today. The first few days we had it he would play with it for a LONG time. As long as you don't mind your child (and their clothes) getting wet (which I don't mind) it's great. I think most times I would just put his swimsuit on him so it didn't matter much how wet he got. He loved moving the boats around and playing in the water. I did find that I had to clean it out quite a bit but that's not hard to do.
Yes my boys (now 4 and 7) have fun with it. I think I had to order new plugs from the company because the ones that came with it were leaking (others have had that problem too) but that isn't a real big deal. It's a great outdoor toy for summer. Janell |

I make and sell homemade sensory water tables here locally....the problem with the wheel shape is that it's hard to store. It's a lot cheaper to buy a sterilite tub that's clear and welders glue plastic tumbler legs on the bottom upside down (Walmart has cool summer 4-packs for .97 cents! If you make one like this it has a lid that comes with the sterilite container that has locking handles (also from Walmart for 7.97)(make sure the tub you choose is completely flat on the bottom) and it's all plastic so it's easy to wash and I switch things inside from water, to beans, rice, bubbles, etc.....to keep it new and stimulating! And it's the size of all storage bins so it can stack right on top of a pile in the basement or garage! So easy and quick and about 12.00 to make instead of 40!! You also don't have to worry about leaking! I just decorate the lids in different themes and put a clear spray poly coat on top to hold the pain on.

we have a step 2 water and sand table, it was only 20 bucks. My kids play with it every day!! we use the old water to water the plants and change the water daily/ every other day.
we have a garage so we just keep it in there during the cold months. in the winter you can use it with rice and beans, but I am too scared of the mess LOL |

After your post, I got online and looked at them. I guess I just had never noticed them at the stores before. Anyway, I purchased one today and can not wait to see how Ian will like it. He loves to play in our bird bath also, so I'm thinking he will like this one. I got the one w/2 compartments, one for sand and one for water. I figured that for now I can fill them both w/water...and sand as he gets bigger. Anyway, thanks for asking about them, I don't know if I would have ever noticed them otherwise. Hope your dd likes her's if you get her one!!

My parents went ahead and got it for her. They just bought it on their on from walmart and actually saved 10.00 by not getting it online. It was 25.00 at walmart. Since we were on the same row looking around....we got her a slide. That can go indoors or outdoors and has a little captain's wheel on it and a place where she can stand on top of the slide. We plan to set it up inside in her playroom. So I guess when her birthday rolls around she will be spoiled
Yep...she loves our bird bath too!! |

I wanted something like that for my dd, but my mom said she was too young this year. After hearing everyone talk about it - I think dd would have a great time! Thanks for the walmart tip - maybe we'll check it out.

Hubby put together the table tonight. It is cute and DD will be able to reach over the sides just fine. It came with a cup and two little boats too. As for the water wheel on it....She will not be able to reach it yet. But, I think she will have sooo much fun splashing around the water. As for the slide we got her. I think she is a bit too young for it. Hubby put it together tonight and when he helped her go down it...first time ever on any slide...she looked a little dazed and confused
