Default bible

What type of bible does your elementary schooler have? DS has an "Adventure" bible. I'm thinking of purchasing bibles for my Sunday School class (there are only 3 in the elementary school age ) and I wanted to purchase something they would understand. I have been looking, and I find a lot of NRSV and International Children's Versions. I want something that is a "true" bible and not just a compliation of bible stories. Am I making sense here or just rambling?? I want the kids to be able to understand it, but at the same time be true to the Word. Any suggestions?

Gabe has a regular NIV. Nothing "fancy for kid" just a plain run of the mill Bible. I'd rather have him question one of us when he doesn't understand, so we can talk about it, than have him "half way understanding" kid words. kwim?

he just finished first grade.

My favorite is the Children's International Version. It is written for those who can actually read though. But it is the true Bible, only difficult words and phrases are explained out in sentence form. For isntance instead of "destined" it might say "prepared for"...all my boys used it till they were in 6th grade. It was their first "real" Bible after the mostly pictures and story compilation kinds!

One of mine has the Adventure Bible, NIV. A reader's Bible, you know, normal text. But with little tid-bits n such to spark further interest and reading.
I don't like those story bible deals either. Not even my non-readers get those.
I think the Adventure Bible is perfect for elem. age kids.
My eldest got a small backpack Bible for Christmas..I had contemplated getting him the Adventure Bible (#2 already had one, eldest was given something else before that), but, we wanted to get him something more compact for toting to church or wherever else he desired.

I don't know much about what's out there. I just know that I do like the Adventure Bible.
