Talk to me about home births please...

I don't really know what I want. I've decided I want a midwife. I'm hoping that the ones I've been talking to have space for me. As most of you know, my kids have all been born in hospital, but naturally. Each labour/birth has been... I don't want to say easier, exactly, but definitely better managed than the last. Over the weekend I've starting thinking about whether or not I want to seriously think about a home birth. Wild. Never thought I'd ever say that. But I have questions. And need to wrap my brain around the whole thing. What do you do with your kids? Do you keep them at home or no? How do you let go of the 'what if' worries - those are always the ones that have kept me in hospitals. And anything else you want to tell me. Ultimately, at this point I don't think I'll be upset if for some reason I have a hospital birth, but as they say - knowledge is power, right? TIA!

I had 3 attempted home births and 2 successful home births. It's been awhile, but I think my older kids were in bed asleep while their siblings were being born.

I was chatting with dh about this last night... we've never really had a direct conversation about it before where I got *his* opinion. I guess he just always knew I wasn't ready to go there so he went with what I was comfortable with. He is completely comfortable with a home birth if that is what we decide. So.... the conversation and research shall continue. More input is welcome!
