My son 18mos old has self weaned himself its been about 1.5wks since he has nursed at all, well about 3 days ago I notice my nipple bleeding and looked better and it was yeast, and looked at other and it had dried blood and had yeast, so I treat them and now yeast is gone but they are sore when you press on them, I have never had this happen before AFTER they are weaned, I have had yeast on my nipples and bleeding while nursing but only when I am nursing I have never had yeast on my nipples anytime other than that, I am still wearing my nice cotton breathable bra I haven't switched back to my satin ones or anything yet so that didn't cause it, any suggestions on what caused it and why my nipples are still sore? Since they are still sore I am still treating them just in case the yeast isn't gone but visibly there is no yeast

This is just a guess, but it's possible that they have been leaking a slight bit because if not nursing, and it's created that warm, moist environment that yeast loves. Just a guess.

i would go see a doctor to make sure it's not some other type of infection also, also if it is yeast, they have those pills that knockout yeast in 1 dose if it's not responding to home treatment.
