Default Pescetarian?

Is there anyone here that lives this lifestyle?

My husband and I are seriously considering going this direction. We've been slowly changing our diet and lifestyle but want to go even more drastic. This will not be a sudden change as we have a lot of food in our freezer/pantry to go through. Some we may give away. But I've stocked up on so much doing coupons and buying sales. What we've decided is once it's gone, we will replace with a healthier alternative. For example, if we run out of steak, we will buy fish/seafood.

Basically (if you don't already know) pescetarians are vegetarians that also eat fish, seafood, dairy and eggs. We are switching to cage-free eggs and are still pondering the dairy thing. We are considering eliminating pasteurized foods such as milk and cheese as well.... But I know that will be hard. We are still in the planning stage in this and I was wondering if anyone here at C'Moms had a similar lifestyle.

I've been about everything at some point, lol. Dh recently suggested the idea again, mainly because of the hormones and antibiotics they give farmed animals. We have some meat in the freezer to get gone... after that I may be with you on this at least for a time.

I live a Pescetarian lifestyle be necessity. I have a hormone imbalance that has prevented me from eating meat without spotting or having an all-out flow. I've been Pescetarian for just over a year now. I started last August 14th. I do eat limited dairy. I drink organic milk and eat organic cheese and eggs. I still serve my children chicken and turkey. I just make myself salmon, flounder, tilapia, tuna, etc. I actually eat a whole lot of flounder and salmon... YUM! I rarely serve the kids beef because I my body reacted to it so drastically with the hormone imbalance... so I just think it's no good for anyone. When I entertain (have a cookout or birthday party) I still serve my guests meat... I just don't eat it. It's veggies, fruit, grains, and fish for me. I did try to eat chicken and beef one day, but it made me super sick after my body had gotten so used to not having it. I am working on slowly removing meat from the kids' diet too... we'll see how that goes...

Glad to know I have a support group and friends to ask LOTS of questions.

We are working on going through the last of our meat in the freezer. We are down to one whole chicken, some t-bones and I will be using up the last of the ribeye meat this week. I'm super excited about the change ahead!

Make sure the fish is wild caught and not farmed raised.

It is good to know that you are upgrading your life into a good lifestyle. I want this too but I tell you, it is very hard at first.

So far so good. We are still eating a little meat that is left in the freezer. But for the most part, we have switched. So far we've been eating lots of pita bread, veggie style pizzas (homemade), veggie burgers, etc. Tonight was baked salmon and steamed asparagus with couscous. It feels so good!

We try to eat mostly organic and natural meats. No processed foods at all, either. We eat a lot of lentils and whole grains. We eat cage-free, organic eggs but not that much. We only drink Almond Milk and only cheese we eat is raw goat cheese. While transitioning, have you thought of eating organic buffalo meat? It's still a red meat but it is healthier than beef. May help in the transition.

No, we haven't thought of that. Not even sure where to find that in our area. But I am finding that I don't really miss red meat. It has been probably two weeks since I've had any red meat. Chicken is the hardest to give up. We ate a lot of chicken..
