Unhappy Help Thrush!!

my baby is 4 months he was born with thrush it took 13 weeks and three differant meds to get rid of it. now three weeks later it is back we did nystatian twice deflucan and gentian violet the last time the gv is what worked but it I don't want to keep giving it to him every few weeks it seems like that would not be good for him. giving up nursing is not an opption, so does any one have any ideas of what we can do for him to make it go away and keep it from coming back that would be a little less harsh and more natural I gave up sugger the frist timeand then started eating it agaim after were better but have cut it out again. he alo has a yeast rash this time also
TIA Erin
sorry forthe bad gramer nak

I'm betting Ruth will have more info on some good natural remedies for this.

But for starters, I know that swabbing the babe's mouth with your saliva can help get rid of it. But if he already has a pretty serious case, this may not work. I know of it as more of an 'at first sign' remedy.

I would say that you and our baby need probiotics. You can get an infant probiotic from a natrapath or there are a few infant/child ones at New Seasons or Whole foods. (those are natural type health food stores if you don't have those particular ones.)
The infant probiotics are in powder form, so you just wet your finger and dip it into the powder then have your baby suck it off.
If I were you, I would start on them too.
Just FYI, you and your baby might get gassy for a week or two. Power through this rough time, and you should notice an amazing difference in not only the thrush, but your overall health.
Did you have antibiotics during labor for Strep B or anything? I have a friend who had antibiotics with her first two deliveries, and both her kids have had issues with yeast from birth. Her daughter has had it the worst, and it's a constant battle to keep her yeast free.

I hope this helps!
Blessings,
Amber

p.s. you can google probiotics and find LOTS of info on it!

Both my boys did...you have to treat BOTH of you!! Otherwise you just pass it back and forth! Put the oral meds on the outside of your breasts and treat yourself for thrush with meds safe while nursing! Also continue treating the kiddo with the meds....'rough' up the inside of the mouth to break up the thrush with a warm washclothe every time before you medicate..do it gently, but enough to break it up some.....then rub the meds all of the tongue/roof of mouth/gums really good and don't let them drink for an hour afterwards to keep from swallowing/washing off. Pump and bottle feed while treating until you BOTH are clear, if you are clear, treat anyway until HIS is clear....then you can restart breastfeeding. If you don't do this, you'll never get it to go away. Trust me.
I also HIGHLY suggest adding the probiotics!
