Since we make organic green smoothies like ALL the time...we are in the market for a new blender (I think ours is about to die). We have a juicer that we use often for some stuff, but there are times where I use the blender to keep some of the fiber and to make more of the smoothie stuff. We've been thinking of either a vitamix or blendtec (I think that's what it's called). Anyone prefer one over the other?

We have had a Vitamix for about 12 years. We have used it a ton and it works great. Super easy to clean and use.

I would *love* a vitamix.

http://www.oster.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=3570 this is what I have except all they had was an orange one, it's just a single serving one, but has no issue chopping ice or anything I throw in my smoothie, I haven't had it long to give my opinion on if its durable or not, I make a smoothie everyday and it amazes me how blenders aren't made to have such demand on them lol because they break on me lol I even tried those handheld blenders and they don't last a month, I had this one about 3 weeks http://www.hamiltonbeach.com/product...-blenders.html and the motor burned up so I took it back to Walmart and trying this oster brand, so far 2 months and still going strong lol but I heard the ninja is good, I would like to try that, never heard of a vitamix maybe I should check into that

I would love a Vitamix, don't know much about the other model you mentioned. If I used it for grinding grains, etc. I might feel more justified in forking over the $$$. FWIW, I make lots of green smoothies with no issues in my Oster (one of their higher end models, about $75 a few years back) with a glass blending cup. In my experience adding things in careful order (greens on the bottom and weighing it down with fruit and ice on top, then adding a bit of liquid or yogurt last) makes for a much better blend.

Not a blender. We are actually in the market for a new blender for larger blends. But for a good green smoothie, I love to use my Magic Bullet. Bonus is that you can blender a single serving at a time and you can drink it right out of the cup that you blend it in...less dishes to wash!
