Default important vote for mainers today

back in the spring (?) our state leaders passed gay marriage rights despite the fact that it was voted down by the poeple twice before then. It's being put to vote for a repeal. Yes on 1 is voting that the law be repealed and No is to keep it the way it is. I was watching a show last night and this is an important vote for the gay community because they have never won a peoples vote in any state. Please pray that christians and others who appose gay marriage make it out in droves to this vote today. This is such an important vote for the "other side" that they've raised over 4 mil. for their campaning here (evidenced by the miriad of commercials we've been subject to for months now). I fear this is it for maine- there seems to much more support for it this time. aminly because it has more press- it's caused me to be a little more vocal then usual because if we don't say something- they're the only ones talking. Kind of a departure for me in how I usually handle my voice in this matter and in that way pray for my relationships with gay friends- I don't want to hurt them but, it's important that I speak up too.

it looks as if yes vote will take it. . .breathing a huge but, tentative breath of relief that it looks like our state won't be the first to vote for gay marriage. . .I can't even tell you how bad it would be for them to finally get a state where the people by majority voted for gay marriage. It's still a little to close to call even though Yes has said they have it. No has refused to concede. only 64% of the presinks are in and we're leading by just 5%. Some of the remaining presinks are very liberal so, we'll see. . .in the morning- thankyou for praying anyone who did. I posted a status on face book that got me a surprise message from someone thanking me for being strong by being verbal. I wouldn't have expected it from this person. . .the reason I felt it was important to write and *I think* I had a good and gracious conversation with someone for gay marriage on facebook. so, thankyou for praying!

Glad it turned out yes. I was also a bit scared when CA had theirs too. I really thought we would allow gays to marry with all the ads and lawn flyers. But I also live in a VERY liberal area...so maybe the rest of CA wasn't so bad.
