Basic 4 - Forum Rules
1. No Advertising unless stated otherwise. That includes business URL's in signatures. You may, however, include any family friendly URL in your Profile.

An ad is any url, promos, etc. that have to do with your business, even if it's not a direct sales pitch. For instance, if you're posting a promo for part of your business site (often signing up for multiple online forums/sites to post it), it's probably an ad. Hoping for new customers/visitors because of it? Probably an ad. We found out long ago that after banning "10% Off" type messages, spammers found alternate ways of promoting their businesses here by disguising promotions within different messages or pleas. So we started getting a different kind of spam, hence the all out no promos rule.

Exception: All loyal members eventually attain Premium Membership. Premium Members can post in the ads forum. We figure no one would fellowship with us [that long- for Premium Member Status/Ranking!] just to post an ad there!

Also, if you have a promo, but don't know if it can or can't be posted, just PM AmyB or rachel to ask. Some "promos/ads/appeals/press releases" may be posted by Admin in the Announcements if for a good cause or parenting-info. related.

2. No Hate Messages Please treat other members better then biological sisters. We're true blood sisters, afterall. This rule covers all to some degree. Practice the Golden Rule in the Spirit, even toward non-c-moms members.

3. Please respect forum leaders too. They are literally God-sends. They aren't allowed to act "for personal reasons." So if they move a thread, remove an ad, or ask you to edit "read your bible, missy" out of your post, please respect their moderations. Most of them have been moderated in the past too.

I know this can be hard because it's natural to feel a sting from any level of correction or to feel defensive, but please know they are just doing their job and aren't making moves out of fury or judgement or favouritism.

Sometimes moderating comes down to "erring on the side of caution," so some posts are moderated "just to be safe" and not because our guidelines were outright broken. We do have to think things through, carefully, quite often. Those situations go to the "Supermods" and Admin, to carefully work out.

4. Read Guidelines. A few forums, Controversial Topics for instance, carry extra guidelines and cautions. Please check them out before participating in those areas. They all carry an expectancy of self-moderation.

Most forums have some set of rules, and they vary. We do our best to be gentle when one is broken or any comment is borderline per our guidelines. It's best to read through a forums custom rules, whatever forums/sites you sign on to, to have the best experience possible. Especially if you feel you'd get defensive or be sensitive about having a mod send you the rules. In some places they ban straight off- no second chance! We've decided to take the time to contact our members and inform them of our rules first, as 99% of the time no foul is meant.

Missing a post?
Missing a post? Here are reasons why a post can be missing:

Glitches
Maybe the post never made it through in the first place?

Pruning
Most of the forums are pruned in 60-365 day intervals. Busy forums like Off-Topic and Prayer Requests are pruned more often. Gripes and Ads forums are pruned almost every week. We do this to save disk space on our server.

Moved Threads, Deleted Posts
Sometimes it is necessary to move/delete someone's post or thread. This can happen for several reasons, we've been spammed, it's been something distasteful, or it isn't along the lines of the thread and is taking over.

The mods will move a thread to the mod room, a room that only they can see, much like how only the Premium Members can see the Premium Members area.

When we edit out another member's post (and copy into a post in the mod room) or move a whole thread in there, we do so as a record of what happened. But also so all the other mods knows what is happening.

We always prayerfully consider our decisions, and do our best to keep this site focussed on God. C'moms is known for being "different" from other sites in that we don't allow things that are crude or rude in any way.

If anyone is offended by a post, feel free to contact any of the mods and or admin. See the "Forum Leaders" link toward the bottom of the forums home page. We can't guarantee that if you take offense that we will move a thread, but we will prayerfully consider your response.

We fully understand that we can't make everyone happy, but we can do as we feel God is leading us to do. It is nothing personal against anyone when we do move or delete a thread, it is simply trying to keep this board for the Glory of our Lord.

Monetary Gifting To Another Member
Privately, we have no control over whether one member sends money to another. Though we believe it is very risky--being not "in real life" and with all the scams and trolls there are.

But, publicly we don't go that route in order to protect members as a whole. Another consideration is we have many members whose families are struggling financially. A public, group effort on the site could very easily lead to hurt feelings when one member is helped and others are not. We can try, when asked, to offer some guidance on real life services, churches, and organizations that can help families.

Can I post pictures?
We have a subforum for pictures within the Premium Members area. See the Rank and Premium Membership FAQ to know how/when you can have access.

Otherwise, post at your own risk. People are more likely to steal them from both the registered only forums and the guest viewable forums.

This limits theft and personal violation in a major way. Hopefully preventing it fully! If you want to take more precautions yet, without not posting them at all, learn to add opaque lettering to your photos with PSP or a similar graphics forum-- as we do on our home page with the photo of the day. If anyone finds a free site or program that does that for you, please PM the link to rachel!

Inappropriate ads? Please report them! Instructions here.
For Ads by Google, and even other advertisers (as we don't always see all or new content), if you see anything unsuitable for c-moms you can pm or email us.

You can right-click and copy shortcut, and paste that line of text into your message to us. We can add the site to our block-list, and ban it from the c-moms within hours.

By far most ads have been fine for c-moms. Most are work at home mom themed. Once in a blue moon they show an ad we'd never approve of: questionable religious ads, or flimsy types of singles ads in particular. Do let us know if you see something such as these. We'll act asap.
