So an e-mail just went out to all the staff at our school today that there's been a confirmed case of 5ths... seeing as how I'm in the 2ww, is there anything for me to be concerned about? My doc is about a 3 hour drive from where I live now, and I DON'T want to talk to my mom (a family doc) about it... What would you do? Anything? Nothing?

Did you have direct contact with the person who has it? If not it's probably unlikely that you caught it as long as you practice proper hygiene (washing hands after using the bathroom, before and after eating, etc.)

Here's a fact sheet on it and pregnancy...

Thanks! I mentioned to my principal this morning when I got to school that there's a possibility that I could be pregnant, and she immediately called in a supply teacher and told me to go to a walk-in clinic to get tested!

Unfortunately, I'm not pregnant. [crysad]

Fortunately that means I don't have to worry as much about 5ths. I guess.
I'm going to get tested for immunity (from 5ths) tonight.

I have to say, sitting in Emerge for 3 hours - it felt like the closest I'd ever been to actually BEING pregnant... kwim? And since AF isn't due till next Wed it was difficult hearing today that I'm not preggo - usually I get to wait till she shows to be let down! Now I'm just wondering what to do with myself for the next week or so... sigh...

Tripper, AF isn't even due for almost a week? And they ran a quantitative hCG blood test? Good grief! I got negatives on my quantitative hCG's even AFTER I missed my periods by days. Of course, the doctors will tell you they're very accurate, but they 'aren't' all that accurate, my friend. It could be way too early for you to get a positive result. :-D

lol... Thanks Joy! I kinda wondered about that, and she did say there's a 2% chance I actually am pregnant, but I'm really trying not to get my hopes up, kwim?
We serve an awesome God who can do anything and always has the best timing! I'm just not sure *I* can handle it right now... [flagsurrender]

I really understand not wanting to get your hopes up, my friend, but this test just doesn't count. It's too early. You're really just back to the place you were before you took the test. A week early is way too early to be accurate. I don't care what they say. It depends on how quickly YOUR body builds hCG levels. If you're low on progesterone, you're 'going' to build more slowly, plain and simple. There are other variables as well that can effect the accuracy of your results.

Hang in there, hon. Jesus knows and cares. [hug]
