View Full Version : Could it be?
Lately I have just been blah and low energy and at night time starving and then feeling nauseous when it's time for bed. So I started thinking...could I be?
But I don't think it's possible since I still haven't gotten ppaf or really any signs...guess I could test but you know how you kind of just know when you are and I really don't think I am...hmmm!
Reneemomto5 02-11-2009, 08:33 PM I say test girl! I know many moms here can offer their advice with BF and pregnancy better than myself.
hugs keep us posted
BlessedMommy 02-11-2009, 08:49 PM The question is: how closely are you monitoring your signs of fertility? The reason why I asked is that often if you are not paying enough attention, you can miss important signs.
Well I am not really watching much at all...not temping but I have noticed an increase in cm amount and it has seemed egg white like off and on...
I guess my "gut" tells me that I am not pregnant and I feel like I would just know...sounds crazy, I know!
What signs could I be missing? TIA

Well, if you're not paying close attention to mucus sensation for example, you could not notice the more fertile mucus, as it's not only based on what you see, but also on what you feel. You can feel a much smaller amount of mucus than you can actually see with your naked eye. For example, I wasn't paying particularly close attention to the minutest details of my fertility signs after my daughter turned 18 months old, since my DH and I had agreed that we were heading back towards the TTC road and at the minimum, weren't going to TTA. Anyway, I started temping once I noticed EWCM, and after only 2-3 days of EWCM, my temp rose and I had my first postpartum ovulation. AF followed about a week and a half later. Anyway, my big lesson from that was that in the future when I am not TTC, to watch those signs extremely carefully, because mucus signs can be more subtle than we think!
I never even asked you if you're TTC or TTA or somewhere in the middle. (If I recall correctly, you do use FAM/NFP right?) It makes a big difference in how much charting you need to do. If you're TTA, then you would need to be charting and abstaining for a count of 4 every time you see mucus. (Or every time your mucus changed, if you had established a BIP) Then, of course, once regular cycles returned, you would go back to the regular NFP/FAM rules of your chosen method. If you're TTC, you could chart as much or as little as you wanted to. I have a full chart for the cycle that I got pregnant, and it's certainly helpful. My midwife and I worked out a more accurate due date based on my chart.
You're right, there is a low likelihood of pregnancy, but it's certainly not a nil chance. I could've gotten pregnant before my first PPAF, since I both ovulated and had a long enough luteal phase AND timed BD right for pregnancy achievement. As it turned out, we tried a couple of cycles later and conceived my current pregnancy.
If you do turn out to be pregnant, you definitely don't have to stop breastfeeding. (See my tickers below, LOL) We'll be tandem nursing in a few weeks, God willing, and I haven't found breastfeeding during pregnancy to be all that difficult.
Anyway, there was my long winded book, lol. Feel free to ask questions or clarify anything that was clear as mud, and keep us posted! :)
BlessedMommy 02-11-2009, 10:37 PM Oh, one more thing, how often does your DD nurse and does she still wake up at night to nurse? My PPAF finally came after the frequency of nursing fluctuated a lot and my DD was sleeping through the night part of the time.
If my memory serves me correctly, you didn't get PPAF with Jack until after he weaned right?
wow ruth, your memory is amazing! yes we do nfp and right now we are not ttc. i didn't get ppaf with jack until after he was fully weaned. brooke stopped night feedings about 3 weeks ago but i don't have any signs of ppaf. thanks for all of your advice! I will keep you posted:)

Ah, okay. If you don't turn out to be pregnant and do still want to wait awhile to TTC, you can always go to careful charting to identify exactly when you could be ovulating. If you need an instructor for clarification and instruction, you can look them up at http://www.ccli.org
The night feedings are definitely probably one of the biggest factors in the return of fertility, if you get PPAF while still nursing.
So when are you going to POAS? Now you're making me curious. LOL.

Paloma.
PianoMama 02-12-2009, 02:20 PM to help paloma:
POAS = pee on a stick (or take a test)
TTC = trying to conceive
TTA = trying to avoid
PPAF = post partum AF (period)
NFP = natural family planning
EWCM = egg white cervical mucous
BD = baby dance
I think I got them alll......
and yeah GO TEST!!! :-) hope you get the result you're hoping for.
i guess i should test but for some reason i am in no rush...i promise to keep you updated:) thanks girls!
Good gravy woman! You may not be in a rush... but here you are informing all of us that there's a possibility and now you're going to yawn it away! ::snort:: You are too funny! Now we're all going to be tapping our fingers waiting to find out if you're next on the C-mom's baby boom!!! :) hehehe
well i finally got around to poas and got a bfn. I wasn't going to do it but out of the blue last night dh looked at me and said i think you are pregnant. it was weird because I haven't said anything about how i have been feeling to him. hmmm...i am kinda neutral about the results...ds has been really challenging lately and my hands are full as it is:) i did feel a little sad and spent a long time looking for a *faint* line...but again we are not ttc so... just thought I would let you gals know:)
Thanks for sharing, Jill!! I sure will be praying for you, gal! I know what it's like to have those challenging times... I hope he evens out for you soon. :) ::hugs::
