View Full Version : what do you think?
LCLake 02-09-2009, 11:10 AM Our method has always just been to bd every other day when we're ttc... in hopes that by doing that his sperm count would be higher. No idea where we got this idea, but it sure makes my hubby happy! haha. It's also just because I didn't want to obsess with temps and all that and I know I would... it's my personality. This method has worked almost right away with both kids but do you think there's actual fact in that at all??? We're doing that again this time 'round but just wanted your opinions.
breezykc2 02-09-2009, 12:07 PM Sure there's good logic there!
1. You aren't stressing as much over the details and stress and over-concentrating on all the physical details can delay or hinder fertility
2. It's best to let sperm build up for 48 hours for maximum amounts, just like you do....either way, if you cycle normally and easily, you hit one of the three days before O and have good chances!
**Hey, from someone who HAD to do the entire fertility route and interventions, I would have LOVED to have taken your course! If it works for you guys...DO IT!! You do NOT want to have to worry about all the other if you don't need it, it is NO fun and very stressful! Good luck!
ChamomileFriend 02-09-2009, 12:59 PM TCOYF recommends bd every other (fertile) day, so I think you are on the right track! I agree that it is to let more sperm build up/mature for the task at hand. Besides, it's fun, good for your marriage, and you get a cute adorable baby, too, what could be better? Hope your #3 is on its way soon :)
savedbygrace 02-10-2009, 03:14 AM mm.. I've also read *and can't remember where* that your chances of getting pregnant are higher by bd everyday. I think the idea was the more often the more of a chance one of the swimmers will get there on time.
*can't remember where I read it... it's bugging me now.
BlessedMommy 02-10-2009, 07:22 AM Sounds good to me! I've always charted and temped, but then I tend to ovulate late when under stress, and with both my kids that helped establish a more accurate EDD. If you went by my LMP for either kid, it would be way off. Also, we use NFP to avoid pg when not TTC, so it really wasn't any trouble to keep on charting as usual.
It sounds like that method has worked great for you guys, though, so I would keep doing what you're doing. If you don't get pregnant right away, you can always go to charting, OPKS, etc.
Sounds like an easy and marriage building method. :D
LadyLavender 02-10-2009, 04:08 PM I never charted or temped- we did the ovulation predictor strips, which got us pregnant both times! I got mine (a lot of them and inexpensive) at this site....

In TCOYF is says to bd everyother day only if the man has a low sperm count. And that there wouldn't be any harm in bd everyday if the man has a normal sperm count. So unless your hubby got tested for his sperm count, bd every other day is good thing to go by. Though if you did bd everyday I'm sure it wouldn't harm anything. Just keep doing what your doing and trusting God and in His time you'll get that BFP!
JoyLynn 02-10-2009, 07:04 PM That's what I've heard, too, Eva. :-D
When Justin and I wanted to start having kids, we were so eager to get PG ASAP, that I asked my two IRL friends who were seeing fertility doctors how to get PG the fastest. Of course, we'd never gone without birth control even one time yet, so we had zero idea how fertile we were. lol! Anyway, both girls said every 36 hours, beginning the week before you believe you'll be ovulating and continuing until the week after you think you've ovulated (just to be sure). They gave the same reasons for the 36 hours that Eva stated. So, it looks something like Monday morning, Tuesday night, Thursday morning, Friday night, etc... I've been pregnant eight times, and we got pregnant on my first cycle each time. Of course, I could just be very fertile, but we stuck to our routine with each baby, just to be sure we were doing everything we could. I did keep an eye on my temps, too, but I didn't let the thermometer determine our schedule. Oooh, and we also did things to keep the swimmers swimming in the right direction instead of falling out, if ya know what I mean. heehee! [rotfl]

Ummmm YUP I do know what you mean.... you're hilarious!!
I don't know if this is TMI... but hey, I'm gonna go for it. Why not right?! Ack!
We make sure "the swimmers are swimming in the right direction" for about 10 minutes but then also, I've always ummm... this is the awkward part.... experience the "big O" during that time. I heard something about the contractions from that helps too.
So ya, now I have a red face... but I'm probably making it worse by me going on about my embarrassment...
ok, I'm going to stop now.
JoyLynn 02-10-2009, 10:41 PM heehee! You're cute. [lovesmile]

Nothing to be embarrassed about! You should be very proud! Not every woman can or has a husband willing to make sure she has the "big O"! Be proud my dear and feel blessed!
(I too have a great hubby in that department by the way! LOL!)

You know what? You're totally right. I never even thought of it that way. THANKS!! :) Yes, my hubby is awesome. Love him to bits and pieces.
