just to let you all know.. i was scheduled today for a c-section, but baby adrienne had other plans. i went into labor very early on saturday morning, and by 10 am, we had called the hospital and were on our way in. thankfully, my doctor was on-call and was waiting for me as i walked through the doors. after being checked, she decided i wasn't going home and that the c-section needed to be done right away. so we were blessed with her birth on 10/28/2006 at 11:51am PST.. 8 lbs, 5 oz (much bigger than any of us anticipated!), 19.5 inches long. had a few scares after her birth.. she spent 24 hours in the special care nursery for a condition called TTNB - still not sure what that stands for - it's a result of fluid in the lungs and taking too many breaths per minute. also, she has a heart murmer that should clear up in the next couple weeks, and a very large mole on her leg that will need to be removed in the near future. seems i was a bit infamous with the nurses, as they couldn't believe i was in a wheelchair just three hours after the surgery to see adrie in the nursery. i was determined to see my baby though, and my husband and nurse both were willing to do whatever it took to make that hospital. no, i really shouldn't have been out of bed, but i was well taken care of once i returned. as of yesterday, her lungs were 100% clear, and the murmur was a bit quieter.
the c-section was textbook, except for some weird pain that i also had with our first dd. once the pain meds were figured out (going off the morphine pump and onto percoset helped), all but the incision pain cleared up. had one of those hot air blankets on top of me for a while as well. all in all, we were very blessed, and are very thankful to have come home on the 31st, rather than have our baby girl #2 born on the the 31st. :) the lord is so good!
