I checked on 4 1/2 yr. old ds last night because he was making some noise and he was still awake and needed a tissue. OK, I get him the tissue and trip over a wet pull up on the floor - he'd taken his pull up and pajamas off. I had him get a dry pull up and his pajamas back on. I checked on him this morning and he did it again!!!! How do you get your child to understand that they need to keep their pajams ON? I suppose he might have been too hot but, he shouldn't have been that hot. A lightweight sleeper, sheet, 1 blanket?
Anyone else have kids who take their pajamas off during the night? Oh, last year I tried putting a diaper pin at the top so he couldn't pull the zipper down. He stretched the neck hole open enough and got out of that sleeper without unzipping it! I called him Houdini for that! :o

as long as undies/diaper are on, I don't worry about mine
I have 1 who sleeps on top of covers no matter the temp
and another who will often do the same or at least take off his shirt
if he gets cold, he'll keep his stuff on, I figure
but I'd draw the line at undies
keep those on or I'll duct tape ya ;)
mine would be told the first time not to do it again or they'll get a spanking
2nd offense, spanking
3rd offense, more spankings
if it happened after that...I *would* duct tape the child...after yet another spanking
but I honestly wouldn't expect it to get that far ;) 1 spanking would likely be it here..but..I've not actually 'been there'
at 4.5 I would think he'd be able to tell you if he's too hot
just ask, allow him to pick other jammies...just an under shirt and boxers perhaps, see how that goes
it may be a problem with the sleeper...feeling constrained, itchy ?? Mine won't sleep in sleepers..none of them. They will wear them around the house for an hour before bed but that's it...they hate sleeping in them
one says hot
one says "I don't like it"
one doesn't like the feet
etc etc
;)

Its funny how each child likes a differnt temp. Some are cold when the others are hot and vice versa and 4 of mine are all in the same room. What I do is no matter the temp my boys usually wear shorts/short sleeve shirt pajama's just just they way they like it. And I adjust their bed coverings to that kid. Meaning one is always hot so he just has his sheet and quilt, where the other may always be cold and he gets sheet, blanket, and quilt. I know what each likes. And this is just works for us.
Try different approaches to what he wear's if you haven't already, different stle pj's make all the diffence with my kids-- if they pick them out. And if some of the pj's they pick have pants I just cut them into shorts, who cares I figure its just pj's who seems them anyway. You'll find something that works don't worry, either way he will become self conscious of just being in his underwear soon enough don't loose any sleep over it. And kids go through some many crazy phases I lost count. My 3 year old just got over the stage for 2 months wearing a new set of day clothes to bed instead of his pj's it didn't last long.

dd loves to be nakey! Naptime is her favorite time to be naked and then she doesn't want covers on. I tell her she has to have covers on or put her clothes on. This usually works. Nighttime is a diiferent story. She unzips her sleeper and takes it off, I tell she will get cold. After a few minutes she wants her jammies back on. As long as she has a diaper/pull up on I don't worry too much if she gets cold she'll wake up and let me know with a cry out ans I can go in and cover her again. Good Luck!! Ya gotta love toddlerhood.
