I have some pretty grouchy kids! Logan (9) was up crying for an hour last night, he was over tired and sick. His throat hurt and his nose won't stop running. Lukas has it too, he just isn't as grumpy as the other. Daughter had it too, was a bit grumpy but cold came and went with her thank goodness.
Annnnnnnnnyway what are your favorite or successful sore throat remedies for kids? Zinc chewables we tried but umm no go with the kids at all. Any others? I'm just drawing a blank.
Thanks a bunch!

Well I usually make them gargle with warm salt water, that helps and since my girls are 9 now I give them the adult pain relief, cut in half. thats about it, sorry. Oh yeah, ice lollies. I let mine eat popsicles all day long. It soothes a little bit and its a nice treat. keeps them quiet for a little bit, a little treat in the midst of all that yuckiness.

Thanks Gen, forgot about salt water. Going to suggest that for Logan for tonight when it gets at its worst.
Thanks!

Chamomile tea (to calm and relax) with honey (sore throat aid and it helps fight 'stuff'). Could add some lemon to that as well, to go along with the old 'warm water with lemon and honey' remedy.
Peppermint tea has a calming effect as well.

Ditto the hot drinks...we just do lemon and honey around here. Tastes great and it works wonders too!

Dittoing the honey and popsicles. My grandma swears by the "hard honey" that is kind of waxy- she used to give it to us on a spoon to lick when we were sick and called it a honey sucker.

Absolutely on the honey. I find that the lemon stings tho... if your kids are whiney like I am, it might make them more whiney!
