Oh dear, I think Matilda has come down with sticky eye. Anyone know of any home remedies? I remember Jackson suffered with this for a long time even though I did all the right things when he was a baby - he was prescribed CLORSIG which seemed to help little.

Does anyone think the good old warm salty water thing would suffice?

Newborns tend to do this. All four of mine went through this phase. I freaked out with Zachary because I thought," Oh no he has pink eye." Then when #2 had it I recognized it and didn't freak! It is not pink eye.

I simply use warm compresses to the eye when I would feed them. Be sure NOT to use the same wash rag you wiped one eye with to wipe the other. You need to use a different wash rag or at least a different portion of it if she has both eyes involved. Their tear ducts don't work properly...everything is just getting into working order. So from time to time the tears aren't draining like they should. Simply holding a warm compresson the corner of the eye helps to clear the eye of undrained tears and dirt and open the duct. Breastmilk
Eyebright tincture in warm water compress or the tea..using the tea bags or washcloth as compresses

ha ha my eye was sore last night (see I got paranoid from seeing the gunk on the baby and assumed I'd caught it from her) and put BM in my own eye. It did salve it and BTW Matilda's eyes are both fine this morning.

Dainyah started this last night too. It freaked out my poor husband. I did assure him it wasn't pink eye. I've had that enough to know what that looks like! Guess when she's done eating, I'll squirt some bm in it. Hope she doesn't squirm too much when I try this.
