OK, my son has had this blockage since he was born and I was hoping he would grow out of it. Unfortunately, he hasn't and his one eye still tears up. It isn't constantly, but obviously more than it should be. Months back, I tried rubbing breast milk into the corner of his eye but it made his eye all red as if it got infected...so, of course, I was hesitant to try that again. I haven't been open about it to my doctor yet during his check ups cause I was thinking he will just insist on the "quick-fix" of medication or have some kind of surgery done. And I am one of those mamas that hates giving medicine (if I don't have to) to my boy!

Anyway, now that he is going to be a year old next month, I was wondering if you think I should try the breast milk thing again OR go ahead and have the doctor prescribe something for it at his next appointment?

Anyone else still dealing with this issue after various attempts of helping it?

Natalia's pediatrician didn't suggest medication she just suggested massages with the thumbs in the corners of the eyes too! she said I should do it every time I feed her (so I would remember)

she also suggested me to clean her eyes with a q-tip and some no-tears shampoo (with water of course too)

:)

It worked!

Hugs!

Paloma.

I've tried the massaging, but I haven't tried the q-tip thing. Thanks, I'll try that!
