Hi,
My dd is 1.5 year old, and I don't know what to do with her hair. I really don't know how to use the little tiny bands that go in her hair, and she pulls clips out. Is she old enough yet to sit still for a salon hair cut? Or do others just do a bang trim at home and leave the rest? I want her hair at the back to grow long, it's just the rest looks rather long and is over her ears.
I know it seems probably easy to some but for me I'm clueless in this department unfortunately!
Thanks!

Mt DD is 2, but when she was younger I has the same dilemma. I ended up taking her to the same place I get my hair cut and it worked great. She sat so still for them, I was amazed! I think she liked seeing herself in the mirror and felt like a "big girl" I need to go in for a trim and it is time for her to get a trim too! Happy cutting! :D

We tried with Abby but she wouldn't sit still for the hairdresser. I can't even cut her hair myself.
We use headbands, ties and clips. Headbands are simple to use.

DD is 4.5 years old, and we have yet to cut her hair at all. In fact, if I have my way, she will not ever cut it. Anyway, it took so practice and work to figure out what would work and what she would tolerate in her hair. There are so many options out there that are so easy to use. I found the best things in the kids clothing department at walmart actually.

These days DD's hair is so long we can tuck it in the waist band of her skirt and normally we just pull it back off her face with a barette or hair pony or braid the front...occaisionally we put it all in a ponytail, but she has alot of "fringe" that falls in her face then.

Headbands are a great idea.
My dd often wears little barettes..the metal flip/clip kind KWIM? Some days she wears them longer than others
But if I really want her hair out of her face I use the no pull rubber bands. *ouchless* bands I think they're called The way my dd's hair grows, it works better to have 2 small ones at top pulling back the top/sides. One in the center leaves too many flyaways (think Mary on Little House..one small band pulling back top and sides..yeah, that..doesn't work so well here) So, 2 small ones it is.

No advice on the haircutting part. I've only trimmed the back of my dd's. I don't do bangs on her. As in, she doesn't have bangs ;) The back I have trimmed a couple of times because it was just straggly looking. She insists each time the boys get a haircut that she needs one too. Nope, sorry girlfriend, I am NOT cutting your hair that often. It's too much work LOL She does well for me. I clip up the top and start with the underlayer. Then continue on. She gets antsy at times, I just remind her to sit still, we'll be done quicker when she's still. And we make it through. I'm sure a professional could do it more timely than I do though ;) But we've not done that yet. Maybe next spring. I'm sure by then she'll be due for a "good trim" as she's not likely to get anything over the winter.

Well we went and got dd's hair cut. She didn't mind at all and man does she look cute! (Of course I'm biased here!) We are letting the back and sides grow long and her bangs are much shorter now, it sure makes her blue eyes shine through more!

Awww yea! Glad she did well with it. I love to see my girl's blue eyes sparkle too..whenever she has her hair pulled back out of her face. hehehe I just don't bother with it most days sitting around here at home. Her hair naturally parts so that it *just* barely hangs down over one eye. Tonight she had me put it up in a clip..the big clip that I use for my hair..the 'pull hair back in a low pony tail, twist up and clip' thing. So cute!

Anywho...pictures of the new 'do??

Glad things went well with the hair cut. My DD is 7 months and has had her bangs cut twice. If you have ever seen her pic.. she has a lot of hair. I tend to also use the ouchless no pull rubber bands.

My mom and I both trim her bangs. We started both DD & DS early on the at home cuts. If you start early they seem to be used to having it done. My nephew didn't have his hair cut until he was close to 2 and threw a fit.

I think she's old enough to go to the salon. I took my DD when she was just over a year old. She had pretty long hair too.
