Here is what I find most disturbing:

Instantly, hundreds of people were out of their cars. Directly in front of me a group of supporters — evident by their bumper-stickers — jumped out with cameras, cell-phones and banners. They began chanting: "The Messiah! He's coming! Obama is coming!" The shouting only intensified as the candidate and his entourage — motorcycles, police cars, black Secret Service Suburbans and busses — roared past us.

It's so sad how so many people, regardless of what party they support, are putting SO MUCH FAITH that all of us can be saved by our candidate..

They will fix the economy, they'll restore family values, they'll provide for our needs, blahblahblahblah..... They have all of these expectations that are so entirely out of touch with The Truth...

*Side note* I read that the US Federal Reserve will be investing $250 billion in the $750 billion dollar bailout.. Essentially buying a HUGE portion of the 7 biggest banks in the United States, and if you think about it--- putting us on the track for a government controlled financial system..

Reminds of a book I read once. [redbible]

You've got some good points, Lindsey.

I do think it's interesting some of the things they come up with just to wrestle our votes. I keep praying and praying that God will lead me in the right direction as to what to do next month, and as long as this is true, I think my leading is pretty straight.

what is worse, is Obama has not denied this! not publicly.

and yes, we are moving closer to a one world bank, a one world government, electronic currency, the mark of the beast. the US will become weaker, and Europe will become the world leader, from which the anti-christ will arise....
then the rapture....so there's a light at the end of the tunnel! :-D

Just curious...I've done some end times studies...how did you come up with Europe being the world leader? Not saying that couldn't happen...just wondering is all.

According to my pastor's end-times studies, Europe is where the anti-christ will rise up from. I will have to get the tapes of his classes so i can be more specific! sorry...

Oh okay. I was just under the impression that we will not know where he comes from. He will even decieve most Christians. I think it will be hard to spot him when he does arise. No?

anti-christ. . .we won't be here=) rapture is pre-trib (as far as I happily understand=). And yes when you compare OT prophesies to NT book of revelations it does seem that Europe is the place where stuff is going on. My oppinion? I don't think the US will even be a major power when it all goes down but, then that's only speculation! Obama isn't the anti-christ and my opinion is that calling him the messiah is a tongue in cheak way of communicating their trust in him to fix the country and their excitement about who he is as a person and candidate- I don't think we need to be weirded out by this, it like me saying "I'm going to kill you" when joking with a friend- am I really going to kill her? The majority of people don't think Obama is really the Messiah (you'd be hard pressed to find just about anyone non-jew or not christian who sincerely had any idea what that really meant) they jsut think he's going to fix what they feel is really wrong after 8 years of bush and who can blame them? It's offensive to us cause we speak chistianese;) We understand what Messiah means and who he is. I agree 100% with doublewide. Jesus is who we trust and the fact that so many people feel so strongly about a candidate is evidence that there are a lot of people feeling their need of Jesus, mis-placing their trust and ultimately will be let down. The course of this world is heading toward the end times and we can't stop that so, PTL we have glory awaiting us and lets hope we can take a few seekers of hope with us. Just throwing my two cents in=) I could be totally wrong maybe they really do think he's the messiah. . .just seems a little odd for a country that is increasingly atheistic;) -ren

I hope you're right, Ren; I really do. However, I think Keith Green had a good way to view it:

Pray for 'pre', but prepare for 'post'.

Ren, thank you for your thoughts. :)

Marazee, I appreciate you posting your thoughts on the end times. That is something I need to study more.

I never meant for anyone to entertain that Obama might be the anti-christ by posting that article. I'm sorry if anyone felt that way. I certainly wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong idea. I agree with Ren - there is no reason to be "weirded out by this." I merely posted this article because it is sad that there are so many people out there that think Obama is going to save us all and actually make such a difference in this country. I can see right through him. Even though I do not believe he is the anti-christ (not sure about the rapture coming before the anti-christ...will have to research that more ;) ) I do believe he is a false prophet. The Bible does say there will be many of those. Oh! And calling him the Messiah is just down right blasphemous. Sickening imo.

I didn't pay much attention to the article because I don't think there is wide use of the term Messiah for obama; the article was about a few people stuck in traffic and I agree was a bit tounge in cheek, not a serious consideration or term for the candidate. I don't think he should have publicly denounced it because it is possible he didn't even know about the couple of weirdos who were saying it.

It is a little more widespread:
Here is the top sites from a google search of just "obama messiah"

There is also people attempting to recruit Jews into believing he is the messiah.

Wow! I had no idea the sensationalism of these comments had spread so far. I think it is an incredibly ridiculous claim and I honestly had never heard anybody refer to him seriously as the messiah. I'm just shaking my head at the craziness of it!
