This morning while I was still lying in bed when the phone rang to tell me that there had been [b]six[\b] emergency calls from our number :(. Dd (23 months old) had managed to get hold of the phone and must have pushed 'redial' over and over. Over here the emergency number is 111 - the first number that a toddler wants to try out. She wouldn't normally get hold of the phone by herself, but ds had talked to dh on the phone (who was out of the house really early this morning to work) and then discarded the phone near to dd. This was not a good start to the weekend. I was annoyed because ds should have known better and we now have to pay a fine for each call when we could have really used that money elsewhere. However, I know I should have checked that he had put the phone away in the correct place when he had finished with it - bad mama :(. Ds is good with using the telephone now, answering correctly and knowing what the emergency number is for - but dd is too young to understand yet.

Wow. Sorry that happened. Can't believe they are going to fine you for those calls. But if it helps you feel any better over here it's 911 and my oldest has called it before.

Sorry Jo just remember things like that happen to ALL of us. Trust me I could tell a few, like all us moms here. None of us are perfect, and we are all learning along the way.

hugs its okay Jo, you are not a bad mom! And accidents happen and we adjust as needed along the way of parenting.

You aren't a bad momma, things like that happen to all of us, like Renee said! Sorry you have to pay for those, that happened to a friend of ours only they showed up on their doorstep with a bill :???: Just learn the lesson and move on, it could have been worse!

So sorry that happened. Sounds very frustrating, but you are definitely not a bad mom. Life happens. My little guy and a friend kept calling some random number and then hanging up. Of course, with call display, the guy knew the number, called back and let us know what was happening. It happens to all of us at one time or another.

My kids haven't pulled that one yet, but if it makes you feel any better, both my mom and I have....just in the last couple of years! (ie. not when we were little!) My sister used to have a phone number that began with 912 and we both accidentally dialed the 1 twice. I was lucky enough to hang up before it registered, but my mom wasn't so lucky.

Try not to be too hard on yourself. I know it feels awful, but things happen. ((hugs))

Thanks for your encouragement and sympathy. I'm feeling a bit better about it now. These things happen. Preschoolers seem to be forever thinking up new ways to get into trouble. Mommies of preschoolers really need to be super alert!
