View Full Version : Yellow spit up

So is it normal for babies to have yellow spit up when they aren't bf? I remember when I was bfing Sophie her spit up was the same color as my bm which was yellow basically. But today she threw up and it was yellow and I haven't bf her for about a week now. Not one bit. Every other spit up has been white like her formula.
Should I be concerned? :?

Did it smell as in like formula which had actually reached her stomach?
It could have just been spit up which had sat in her tummy?

When Matilda spits up and it's white, it's generally un-digested... but I noticed yellow spit up on her grow suit this morning.... could have just dried yellow mind.

Have you phoned your health care advice line?

Sounds like it might have been some bile. Maybe her stomach wasn't very full. I wouldn't worry if it doesn't keep up. :D

No she's only done that 2x in the whole 5 weeks. So I'm guessing it's probably just a bit of reflux... If she was doing it every day or all the time I would phone them. It's just she swallowed some meconium during labour and they made us stay in 24 hours so they could keep an eye on her and my mummy paranoia was worried maybe she still has something in her tummy from then or if it has made her ill KWIM? But she seems fine otherwise.

Actually both times she hadn't eaten for about 5 hours because she was sleeping and she didn't wake up for her 3 hourly feed. So that was my thought too. That her tummy was so empty that it was just too much for her.

Thanks :)

I would say probably just keep and eye out if she does it more frequently call the peds office to be on the safe side.
