This was the hardest labor out of my 4. Thankfully it did not last long! It went really quickly especially considering the circumstances.

I had bloody show all day Sunday and fairly mild contractions that got to be about 3 minutes apart when I was up and active. After lying down the contractions tapered off almost completely so I thought it could possibly be false labor. Thats when I posted in Pregnancy the first time. After getting up the contractions came back but at about 10 minutes apart, and more intense then the first ones. Things stayed that way for about 4 hrs until I decided to lye down and try to sleep.. that was around midnight. I tried to sleep but as I lay there the contrax intensified and got to be about 6 minutes apart by 2:30am. I wasn't getting any sleep so I decided to get up. Thats when I posted the last time before the birth. Right after I made that post the contractions kicked in full force and were one on top of another. I called the midwife and she said she was on her way. I called my friend Betty also so she would be here in case the kids woke up during the birth. I started feeling really really pushy and was sure the midwife wasn't go to make it. I had dh get all the birth supplies ready and I made my way into the bedroom. I was getting one contraction after another and they were extremely painful.. the worst contractions I've ever had. My water broke around 3:20am. My water breaking actually gave me some relief.. not for long though. The contractions slowed down and were not as painful at first but after a few more they intensified again. Betty arrived first, the midwife right behind her and then the her two assistants. It was around 3:30 ish. There were many things this midwife did that dh and I were really not happy about and wish we could change. I won't go into all the details with that but lets just say we will not be using her again! And PTL baby and I are in good health! Anyway.. I was ready to push when the midwife got here but I was holding back in case I wasn't fully dilated.. after she checked me and confirmed I was 10 cm I gave it my all. I pushed a few times on the bed before getting on the birthing stool. On the stool I pushed through three or four more contractions and out came baby.. face up (posterior)! It was extremely painful pushing her out.. I mean.. it felt like 10 times more painful then with my other three. This was partly, maybe mostly to do with the baby's position but I think the midwifes "techniques" also played a role. My poor little babies forehead was all smooshed and her eyes were swollen.. I felt soo bad. She looks great now though, amazing how quick they recover. I am still very very sore. I also lost a lot of blood which made me feel pretty weak. The midwife insists that the blood loss was normal but for me, comparing to my other three births, it was a lot! I am feeling much better today though.. have most my energy back. I think I'll be back to normal in a few days. Azalia is doing wonderful! Nursing like a champ! She has such a mild sweet tender character.. I'm just in love with her! The Lord has truly blessed us!! Congratulations!

I absolutely love your daughter's name! It's just beautiful. Thanks for sharing your birth story. It's just what I needed to hear with my labor and delivery quickly approaching. When people hear that my plan is to deliver naturally, they feel that they need to share their horror stories about the pain. It was reassuring to me to read your story. Thanks again. I'll be praying for a quick recovery!

So glad it's all over now. My sister and my sis-in-law both had posterior babies and I know that gives you a lot more pain that way. Plus their babies faces were bruised for a few days too. Not anything you can do about that, so don't feel bad sweetie. (((hugs))) I'm sorry your midwife wasn't a good one, and that you lost a lot of blood. I did too when I had Timmy and the weak feeling is horrible. But I'm so glad to hear you feel better now. [loveyou]
