[imnewheresign] I am the mother of two special needs boys. Zachary is nine and has been diagnosed with: Asperger's Syndrome, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, severe reflux, bladder spasms, insomnia, and severe allergies. Riley is seven and has been diagnosed with: Autism, Type I Diabetes, and a Seizure Disorder. My husband who is bipolar and is refusing treatment, recently walked out after Riley nearly drown. Riley slipped out of the house when no one was looking and we found him minutes later in the neighbor's pool. I had to perform CPR until rescue teams could arrive. Thank God, Riley made a miraculous recovery. My husband's departure, however; has left me facing the task of providing the level of care needed by both boys while I also have to find time to start a career. I have a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine that I received 13 years ago. I have not been able to use my degree due to the health issues at home. I have come looking for support, encouragement, ideas, and inspiration!!
Hi it's nice to meet you! It's sounds like you've really been through a lot! The ladies on here are great and very supportive and encouraging, so I would say that you've come to the right place!
Hi, and welcome! I'll pray for God to give you an extra dose of strength and wisdom. Hope you come to enjoy C-moms as much as I do!

Wow! What a story. Welcome aboard. I know you will find encouragement and support here. You are officially added to my prayer list! 2 of my 4 boys have dyslexia and ADHD...but that's not as significant as your sons' health issues. But I have a listening ear and comprehend some of the frustration. So here is a big welcome hug! [hug] [girlsmiley]

[welcomehi] Hello and welcome! The ladies here are definately very supportive and compassionate. We're always ready with a listening ear. I will be praying for your family. I have a neice that has autism and my DH has been unofficially diagnosed (by me) with Asperger's. Make yourself at home here. :)

Thank you very much for your welcoming remarks and of course for the prayers!! I am looking forward to talking with other moms. Adult conversation is in short supply at my house. One thing is for sure, I have regained my much needed dependence on God.
In Appreciation,
Michelle

Welcome :D I am glad you found us! I have a daughter with multiple special needs. She has had seizures in the past, but fortunately was able to have surgery that stopped them. She has many autistic characteristics and has many physical and learning challenges. I hope I can be an encouragement to you.

My oldest son is almost 8 yrs. old and about a year ago we first heard of Asperger's and have been researching and getting evaluations, etc. done. he has been diagnosed with adjustment development disorder, ADD, and Aspergers. WOW! what a story, you sound like a strong woman though. I will definitley add you to my prayer list. I have a feeling that God has a great plan in store for you. I also pray that your husband seeks out the help that he needs and comes back to realize that you need his help more than anything right now.
God is great, through him all things are possible.

Hi Ladies,
I just want to let you know that your prayers are appreciated so very much!! Riley has received a slot on the state waiver which means that he will be receiving assistance at home. He has come so far educationally, but I definately need help in addressing his self help skills and his ability to reason about danger. Riley was non verbal until the age of four and by the age of seven, he was on the general NC curriculum. I pray that the same learning ability will be demonstrated in the training at home and in the community. This help will also provide Zachary with some much needed personal attention from mom. Zachary has taken Riley's accident and his dad's departure very hard. Please pray about these things as well as for the right workers to be found to work with Riley and that I find a compassionate employer who will understand the issues that come up at home. Thanks again!!
With Love Always,
Michelle

Hi all,
Things here are up and down. I am making some progress in several areas. I found a lawyer and my husband should be getting his letter any day now. I am getting closer to having the in home services in place for Riley. Having these two things finished will be a big move in the positive direction.
Riley has been in the hospital twice since the swimming pool accident. It is as if his little body has gone haywire. I would appreciate prayer for him and Zachary. Zach is having some trouble with the fact that his dad is gone. His behavior has been terrible.
On the job front, I am writing some articles to hopefully appear in magazines and I have a greeting card company looking at some submissions as well.
Thanks so much for the prayers and I ask that you please continue to pray as I want my boys to know that God's love is the center of their past, present and future.
Lots of Love,
Michelle
