I don't think this is a serious problem but its one that has me puzzled..Angela's older cousin ripped an earring from Angela's ear two years ago..The cut remained but the bottom resealed making it possible for her to wear earrings again...Last week her ear began bleeding from that spot even though it had been days since she'd worn earrings..It was bleeding very thin liquidy blood and I decided to put some antiseptic and a bandaid on it...When that bandage came off the bleeding had stopped and I put another bandaid on just to avoid recutting it....We have no clue how or why it started bleeding in the first place.....Today I removed the bandaid and all the skin on the back side of her ear is dried up and peeling off...

Does this sound like an allergy to the bandaid (possible latex like me) or is something else going on??

Sounds like it is drying out. Keep an eye on it. Watch for redness and and drainage. Keep it clean and covered with some antibiotic ointment and give her some extra vitamin C. Well...that is what I would do anyway. :D

Has she reacted to earrings before? is sounds like either a reaction to the metal in the earring or that possible the earring had scratched the site when it was being put in. I do this all the time. Avoid peroxide and alcohol as they will dry the site and cause more damage. Use an antibiotic ointment on it.

I think the back of the ear could have been from moisture being trapped under the bandaid, even as sweat while she was sleeping, and it caused irritation. To test the latex bandaid theory, place one on the inside of her wrist or elbow and watch closely for any reaction. If it looks red, or itches and gets hives...then it is the bandaid.

How is her ear today?

sorry I didn't get back to this..we discovered she has similar allergies to latex bandages as I do...she doesn't get blisters like me but her skin peels off...i let her ear air out, put some vaseline on it and it was good as new
