View Full Version : Sigh...
I have come to the decision that I need to change my doctor before this baby is born. Kind of a combination of my experiences at appts and two separate conversations I have had with nurses in town. I am not sure if this will be difficult or not, especially this close to baby arriving. I don't know if the two docs that have been recommended to me are even accepting patients. I am going to call the doctors office in the morning (Monday) and see what I can arrange. If you think to, would you keep this issue in prayer? I am kind of stressing about it....thanks.

Sure thing, Kim. Praying for the Lord to guide you in the right direction and to give you peace with your new doc.

At this point I'm sure this is the *last* thing you want to be dealing with, so you can count on prayer here! God bless you!

Praying for you Kim! ((HUGS))
Thanks gals. I am pretty upset about this. I haven't shared half of the reasons why I need to switch....suffice to say I am absolutely *not* comfortable with this doc handling my labour/delivery. I had my GBS screen last week and well....yeah...its just not going to happen.
I called the docs office this morning. The earliest they can fit me in with one of the other docs is Sept 26th. I will be 27.5wks by then. I am definitely feeling like that is too late to be fighting the switch but I really need to. Still not sure if the other doc will take me on. If he doesn't....not sure what I'll do. In the meantime, I am going to cancel the appt I have with the yucky doc this week.

Any midwives in your area? I haven't used one, but it may be a better possibility for you...praying!

I wish!! The midwife I had in Ontario checked for me before I moved. None. Even if there were, they are not covered by health care (yet! I hear maybe soon...) and we couldn't afford one anyway.

That's a tough one, especially since you are in a small town (I assume from having only 3 possibly OB/GYN's in your post). I'm not sure if it's the same everywhere, but in my town, the OB/GYN's take turns with night shifts. Which means even if you have a specific doctor, he or she may not deliver your baby. Of my 3, only 1 was delivered by the OB/GYN I had been using during the pregnancy. With my first, if I wanted my dr. to deliver him, they told me to wait a half hour! He simply wasn't on call.
Not to stress you out more, but to prepare you. Is there any chance of trying to go to a bigger center for your doctor and stuff? I know I would hate to drive while in labour but if it gets you away from a yucky doctor??? I don't think it's too late to switch, if he makes you uncomfortable, then forget it. Could you lodge a formal complaint against him?
I have thought of those things, Jay, so no worries about stressing me out more. And as far as I know, yes, there are only the three docs. I think. It is in the plans to ask this new doc I have an appt with about dealing with whoever is on call. Believe me, dh and I have already been talking about driving into Calgary, or up to Hannah or something. *shrug* I don't have any good answers to anything right now. I do know with the fast labours I have had (4hrs with ds and 3.5 with dd) that driving into Calgary (1.5hrs) is not really an option. So I would have to temporarily move back there with family and pray that dh could get into the city in time. That WOULD really stress me out, so I am hoping it won't come to that.
