22. How did you realize you were in labor? didn't the 1st time. my doctor sent me to the hospital from his office. 2nd time my water bulged out of the birth canal and we went straight to the hospital. We held off the labor for 10 days, that was when I woke up in full labor

23. How long did you push for? i think 2 hours - 5 minutes 2nda time

24. How many hours were you in labor? Total? at the hospital, 7 hours- about 2 hours 2nd time. she would have fallen right out if i stood. we had to wait on NICU team to get together and the specialist to get there first.

27. Do you have any weird labor stories? With my 2nd daughter, the nurse gave me an ice pack afterwards, (still needed an episiotomy with a 2 lb 9 oz. baby!!!) and I said my coolie was frozen. I'm kinda embarressed about that. I don't know why I said that.

28. Did the father make it to the delivery room? Yes, he took me the first time. The 2nd time, we were already there. I was on bedrest in the hospital. He fortunately had spent the night the night before, because I woke up in full labor.

27. Do you have any weird labor stories? YES! I had a nurse who wouldn't listen when I told her I couldn't stop pushing. She told me it was my first and to stop or I'd tear my cervix. I told her I couldn't stop and she said all first time moms are a little confused! At that point I lost it and yelled at her to get my doctor. When the doctor came in and examined me, she yelled, WE'RE HAVING A BABY!!!! and the room filled with all the nursing staff in seconds!

I thought my cath was trying to come out...so hubby peeks under the covers...we have see way too many discovery health births where it's the babys head :D So the nurse comes in to check the machines and stuff. I began telling her something doesn't feel right. She said she would check me on the next hour...unless I wanted her to do it now. I told her I trust her best judgemnt. Then she said. Well I know you are worried...we will do it now. She reached in and her eyes got soooo big. She asked was I ready to push. It was dd's head I had been feeling coming on out. She urged me not to push and started getting things set up and they started paging my OBGYN.

22. How did you realize you were in labor? Both babies were breech :( c-sections for both. Though I have an unsual story for the first born. He was transverse breech. Nothing but a foot dangled below my belly button at any point. Was tight to say the least. Well, it came time for the planned c-section. While I was laying there, hooked up to the monitors, a nurse came around. She kept looking at me, then the machine, then me..and so it went. She finally asks me if I "felt that???" Felt what? LOL I was contracting heavily and going into labor, yet I felt not one bit of pain at all. Wonder if that was because of the position the baby was in. That was the weirdest thing ever. Getting prepped for a planned c-section two weeks early and I'm in labor and not knowing it. :shock:

27. Do you have any weird labor stories? Other than the one I kinda shared earlier in another question.....when baby#1 came out, he was crying and crying...real hysterical like. Well the nurse put him near my head so I could see him....he reached out his little hand and touched my head and stopped crying!!!! I still kick myself to this day for not attempting to breastfeed him. He would have been easy I think. He's such a a lovey to this day.

I would like to adopt again, but finances are really bad because of the last 5 years....3 yrs of IF and $12K+ for adoption...plus we're just getting older and older, so our chances of being matched will go down...and DH is too old for some of the international adoptions (even if we could afford the $20K+ costs) We may look into foster/adopt in the next couple of years, but DH is satisfied with just DS...though I would love to have a daughter too!!!

If it wasn't before, it was maybe a week after 'missed' period For the first time I mean. I think all the others were tested before or the week of my missed period. Dh always "knew" he's the one who wanted me to test so early LOL Drove me nuts at times, but anywho...

8. How did you tell your parents? I can't remember for sure the first time, I assume we called. All the other times, I called..at some point during the pregnancy ;)

9. How did your parents take the news? Happy the first time. Ok happy the second time but thought it was 'soon' (they're 26 months apart :roll: ) after that, it was kind of like 'ok' but not jumping for joy happy as with the first By #3 we were just *weird*

13. Did you have any weird cravings? Shaved ice with my first. I think I wanted lots of pizza with #2 After that...I don't know. Things were really hit or miss. Nothing "weird" though.

22. How did you realize you were in labor? Hard contractions through which I could not lie down...basically it for each time. #3 I woke up with contrax, within 30 min. I was needing to rest, but wasn't comfortable lying down. Needing to stop and 'breathe through' a contraction was a sure sign this was it. Needing to rock. Needing everything to just *pause* while I contracted.

23. How long did you push for? With #1, a full 2 hr. #2 um 10 minutes? #3, less than that LOL #4 hmm maybe 15-20 minutes ? Sounds vaguely familiar #5, oh, another 5 minutes or so I believe

24. How many hours were you in labor? #1 was 27 hr, #2 was 5 hr, #3 was 3 hr, #4 was I think 6 hr ? #5 was ... um .. 2 hr?

25. Did you have any complications during labor? #1 was a long labor, pushing was slow, I find out after the fact there was talk of transport. But by the grace of God .. lots of prayers from around the world .. we got through :) That was it.

26. Did you take any drugs? Nope. With #1 I used an herbal tincture Skullscap to help me sleep between contractions. As I said, long labor, I was exhausted...this was 27 hr after a full day. Labor started right after going to bed Friday night. And I had to be "up" the entire labor, so physically exhausting. So, the herb allowed me to sleep between contrax, didn't affect them at all.

Umm With #1 I told dh he better get my mom out of my face before I hurt her, or something along those lines ;) #2 My midwife didn't make it in time, even though she lived 10 minutes down the road, because we told her there was no rush and would you pick up some Gatorade on the way ?? #3 I called dh before midwife. Same midwife, only now she had a 1.5 - 2 hr drive. I got a hiney chewin' for that. She once again missed the birth. Caught in traffic 10 minutes from our house. If I had called her first, she would have made it. #4 Midwife put in her records "I was there for this one!!" LOL Yes, same midwife, first birth she actually attended, from the start even. I barely had any contrax when we called, still mellow by the time she arrived, again, 1.5 hr away. #5 Pizza delivery guy came with supper as I was running myself water to birth the baby. Dh is running around sitting kids at table, getting pizza at the door, serving up pizza and seeing WHAT on EARTH I am doing. Didn't think I was "there" yet hehe

He was there for all. #2 he delivered #3 he and I delivered #4 my midwife caught..he likely would have again but due to my position on the bed in comparison to midwife and dh, I just said NOBODY move ... 25. Did you have any complications during labor? Not during, but after the c-section, there was a kink in the catheter that delivered more numbing medicine to my abdomen, so I didn't get that medicine, LOTS of pain!

27. Do you have any weird labor stories? My dh was in with me during my c-section, and it really got to him so he had to leave. If I hadn't had to be there I would have left too!
