DS is starting preschool tomorrow and I always remember taking something to the teacher at school (apple, flowers, etc.) Do kids still do that and what would do they take?

Thanks!

We have wildflowers all around us. The kids love to pick them on the way to the bus stop. I like the idea too. The kids picked them themselves. I have also sent veggies from the garden.
A homemade card would be nice too.

Our school has a meet/greet time where the parent and child get to meet the teacher and have about 15 min. of time to get to know each other. We have a blueberry place less than a mile away and blueberries are out at this time of year so the day before we meet teacher, we go pick blueberries and then make blueberries that day or the next (day we meet teacher). We do up 1 dozen for each teacher and then hand out individual muffins to others we see at school while we're there - principal, asst. principal, secretary, former teachers, etc. This has always gone over very well. i don't know if kids really do this anymore though.

love the flowers and veggie ideas, and muffins, yum. People don't do that around here.

They do Christmas and end of year gifts, mostly only lower El.

In Iowa we are not supposed to accept gifts that are more than $5. Usually at Christmas time I get little things like decorated pads of paper, cocoa mix, cookies, little penguin things, tiny lotions. They are always quite nice. At the end of the year, I sometimes get notes or letters written by students or their parents/guardians. That is thoughtful, too.

When we moved from Omaha to Albuquerque I remember getting a gift card for Barnes and Noble for Rhyanne's teacher. I am not sure how much it was.
