Well, I am no longer able to have our homebirth...planned at least. The Lord totally knows where Makelah will be born, and He can bring her fast at home if it's His will. My midwife was co-managing me with a CNM because of my diabetes. Well the CNM decided that my blood sugars were too high for them to leave after the normal two hours after birth. They gave us the option of going to their birth center, but it can be 1-2 hour drive, depending on traffic. Dh and I prayed, we talked to my friend who is a NICU nurses....Noah's nurse actually, asked her about what she sees in GD babies, and with all the info, Dh decided that we are going to deliver at the hospital that Noah was born in. I am sad that the place I have been imagining giving birth at has changed...that we have to leave our home to have Makelah, but if it means her safety and health in the end....I trust that the Lord has put this on the midwives hearts and then Dh's decision for a reason.
We decided to go with the midwives at the hospital, and after a consult with the perinatologists they gave me the go-ahead to deliver with just them. I now can labor in my pool, I can possibly deliver in the water too.....depending on which midwife is there and if Makelah comes fast.
So....in the scheme of things I can almost have my homebirth, just with the access to the NICU if Makelah can't keep her sugars up and her lungs aren't mature enough.
It is weird packing a bag for the hospital with baby stuff in it. If it's the Lord's will, we will actually be bringing a baby home from that place....what an amazing blessing! Oh, and the coolest thing....one of the nurses I work with works more at the hospital we will be delivering at, so she could possibly be my nurse, but the nurse who was there with us when Noah was born works the opposite shift, so it's possible to have her too! So excited about that!!! :-D
Just thought I would give you an update. The new midwives moved my due date back to Sept 20th, but we are saying 18th. My u/s have always said the 18th.....so I am 37 weeks today.....and so very excited to meet our little girl!!!! Healthy little girl!!! :-D
blessings,
Amber
