We have several kids Bibles. But, the stories are too short for ds. He is ready for more detail and longer stories, but we still need good pictures.
Anyone have any recommendations?

It also says American Bible Society on it. Anyway, it's get colorful pictures on every page, and longer stories too. Timmy loves it. Cheeseburger 07-25-2008, 11:31 AM We use the children's bible... we have an old printing from the 60's ... http://www.amazon.com/Golden-Childrens-Bible-Books/dp/0307165205 the only thing is in this book Jesus is white with blond hair and blue eyes. We're unsure about that. LOL, since, obviously, Jesus wasn't white. anyway, I'd like to find a children's bible w/ no pictures of Jesus but that is proving very difficult. SO, the paraphrasing of the stories remains close and the whole thing was looked over by various scholars (protestant, jewish & catholic) to ensure accuracy as far as remaining faithful to the original texts. And the stories are fairly long too. Cheryl 07-25-2008, 02:07 PM I have the Read and Learn Bible by Scholastic. It also says American Bible Society on it. I think we got it at Walmart! There are pictures on every page and the stories are several pages long (like 6-8 pages for each of the major Bible stories.) http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51LdFtXGX%2BL._SL500_AA240_.jpg http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/ciu/47/d0/9421808a8da07c9bf5108110._AA240_.L.jpg Another one we have is this one (it has two page spreads - story on one side with follow up questions and a picture on the opposite page.): http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51DZ73RF5XL._SL500_BO2,204,203,200_PIsitb-dp-500-arrow,TopRight,45,-64_OU01_AA240_SH20_.jpg http://www.amazon.com/Jesus-Pictures-Little-Kenneth-Taylor/dp/0802430597/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1217009397&sr=8-2 Madre 07-26-2008, 07:57 AM Hurlbut's Story of the Bible was originally published a long time ago and is more of a compilation of Bible stories than a Bible per se. The link below offers it online as well as an option to order it. I think it's less expensive, though, through Amazon or Christianbook.com: http://www.mainlesson.com/display.php?author=hurlbut&book=bible&story=_contents LadyLavender 07-27-2008, 02:52 AM We just got this one for the kids not long ago, and even Mama is excited about it! :-D It has some great detail and illustrations, such as how the temple probably looked, etc. http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?item_no=602611 kim 07-27-2008, 10:33 PM We read both the Beginners Bible http://www.zondervan.com/Cultures/en-US/Product/ProductDetail.htm?ProdID=com.zondervan.97803107096 26&QueryStringSite=BeginnersBible.com and the Rhyme Bible Storybook http://www.amazon.com/Rhyme-Bible-Storybook-Linda-Sattgast/dp/031070197X The beginners bible has more detailed stories than the Rhyme bible, but ds loves them both. (Although now that I think of it, he asks for stories from the BB more often lately...) Let us know what you pick! :D |
