View Full Version : So how many of you have picked names?

04-10-2006, 02:09 AM
Just curious, I know this subject would have appeared before -

For a boy we have: Beau (which is french for handsome)
and a girl we have: Ellie (which means light)

Ellie was the only girls name we didn't argue  over LOL and Beau we agreed on straight away.

If it is a boy I want Ashton to be his middle name, except my husband doesnt like any names with "ash" in them LOL! and I am not sure about girls middle names to go with Ellie.

Hmmm picking names is difficult.
I like Ashton Beau but you both really like Beau and your hubby doesn't like Ashton.
I think Ellie Grace is nice.

HTH

Our names are...

BOY Samuel Kadison (God has heard. No meaning for Kadison)
GIRL Sophia (Sophie) Charlize (Wisdom. Woman. So I guess you could call her a wise woman  )

I wanted to stick with bible names for first names but the only girls names I have now are Naomi, Hannah or Deborah. I like Hannah but it's pretty common now. Deborah has the nn Debby which is too close to Abby.
I really like Naomi. The meaning is "pleasantness". But Paul isn't fond of it.
But Samuel is a bible name :)

Abigail (Abby) means "Fathers Joy"
And Mariah means "Wished for child".

Our boys name was originally going to be Reuben André or Reuben James. But I decided I wasn't sure on the name Reuben. :?

GIRL:

Ava Caroline or Audrey Caroline

BOY:

Andrew Preston or Aidan William

We're pretty sure it's a girl and we're leaning towards Ava. This is the first pregnancy that we aren't positive of the name this late in the game. We pretty much quit going over boy names as soon as they said it was a girl (90%), so either way, we may have to wait and see who comes along before she/he gets a name.

I have my u/s on May 8th, so hopefully....yeah. Hubby is insesant it is a girl though.

If he is right, she will be named Dainyah Grace (Dainyah is from Dania which means God is my Judge, or judged. Grace, unmerited gift) I changed the spelling to make it more phonetic. It is pronounced Dane Yuh. Dania looks more like Dan E Uh. That really doesn't go well with out last name's pronounceation.

If it is a boy, it is Caedmon Joshua. (Caedmon, mighty warrior, Joshua, the Lord saves).

However, we may still change the girl's name. He wouldn't let me have Reisa (pronounced like Rita but with an s. It is a pidgeon of the Yiddish and Russian words for rose) because it reminds him of reese's peanut butter cups. Argh. Though, it has stayed Dainyah for the past few weeks now.

Girl =

Hannah Ruth

Boy =

Stephen James

We like Bible names a lot and since both my husband and I are named with a Bible name, we decided on Bible names for our child.

If it's a girl we're going to name her Gracie Olivia.

If it's a boy, we're very undecided. I thought about Logan James or Micah Dodd (Dodd being my maiden name).

Okay, wanna hear a weird story? When I was prego with baby #3 (Courtney) we thought she was going to be a boy for the first half of our pregnancy. I was supposed to miscarry her, so thinking she was a boy we named her Joshua, meaning God saves. Well, she lived and we found out she was a girl and had to come up with a new name just before she was born. I felt the meaning of Joshua was still symbolic in the pregnancy because of the complications. Well, I never told her about what happened during her pregnancy cuz God told me she would some day tell me about it. Well one day I heard her talking alone in her room and using the name Joshua. I asked her who she was talking to and she said she was talking to herself. She giggled and said she sometimes calls herself Joshua!! She's nine now and as feminine as the day is long, but still calls herself Joshua as a nickname sometimes, accompanied by the giggle. I'll tell her when she's a bit older. Weird, huh? There's so much in a name!!!!

Joylynn that is the most WEIRD story I have ever heard and wonderful!
Did you get tingles in your spine or anything? You do know babies can hear so she might have heard you call her that and tucked it into her subconscious? (you never know), or she might have been touched spiritually by your confession that "God Saves" (Joshua) during the pregnancy y'know?

I at first thought i was having a boy, now I am 16 weeks and I think it is a girl for sure... well, I will know in two weeks!

Yah, my heart skipped a beat or two and still does whenever she does it. She also loves to write poems and she's written a few that have the same effect on me. She was a miracle in so many ways. During my whole pregnancy with her I never had ANY hcg and when I finally had a complete hormone panel done I registered no progesterone. I had to go to the hospital every week for an ultrasound with a pink slip that said "rule out anomalies". That made the hair on the back of my neck stand up each time I saw it. They kept saying they didn't know how I was staying pregnant and that I would miscarry at any time. The whole story is so miraculous. There's so MUCH more to the story that is even more shocking than the part you know. I was told many times to write a book about her first two years. The lord has been clear with me since I was pregnant to let her come to me because that would be part of the miracle. She would know because He told her. She's already talking about it, as I said, in her writing. I'll look for her most recent poem. It has something to do with the power of healing and how Jesus' hand has touched her and she can feel His healing power in her. When I found that poem in her closet I ran right to the phone and called our relatives. It's already starting. PTL!! God is so exciting!

Ya know what I think? God loves to do powerful and exciting things in our lives but He really wants us to believe He wants to and watch for them. He likes the praise and the glory He receives when He moves. If you're not watching, you won't see much.

With DS we were told he was a girl, actually twice, by different u/s! So when Phoebe Joy turned out to be a boy, we frantically searched for a boy name, thus coming up with Silas Hawkins.

When DD was born so many people have asked why we didn't name her Phoebe Joy, but I felt like I was already pregnant with Phoebe Joy before. SO we opted for Hattie Ruth.

We are having a boy this go round, but we can't come up with a name. I'm open to suggestions!!

We are batting around: Kasper, Amos, Luke, Levi (dh doesn't love that one), Bo, Simon (but I don't like the way it goes with Silas), and some others. This is so hard for us!!

Missionary Mom, I've always loved the name Decklin Philip. DH hates it though, so if you want to have it, go ahead.

I like Amos. If you go with Amos, do you have a middle name picked out?

M-Mom, I freak out when i hear stories about ultrasound technicians getting it wrong! Had you bought much stuff for the babies layette?

Mine is actually being done by a Doctor so I hope this makes him more ???proficient

We are actually thinking of changing our name Ellie to Matilda which is a very popular name in Australia right now. I mentioned it over lunch yesterday and my husband said he didn't care if we chose Matilda instead but only time will tell if he changes his mind on this one -

Personally I love the boys name TYLER. Just a thought.

Oh yes, I had ALL pink stuff for Silas. It was actually pretty funny. I worked with Senior Adults at a Seniors activity center and they had me worried that those "new fangled machines" couldn't always be right. So I had only washed my favorite things and left the tags on the others. But we had a cute pink dress for him to come home in...he didn't, don't worry! My mom and MIL swapped a bunch of stuff for me and SIlas has never worn pink. DH says he will never believe the u/s! I do, though. Especially with this #3, it was quite obvious!!

Maybe for a middle name, to go with Amos (or a lot of other names) we like Lee. It was my grandfather's name. But we still don't know!! Keep coming with the suggestions.
