Does anyone have the Leap Pad plus writing learning system? I think that's the correct name. :?
Just wondered how you/your kids like it and would it be suitable for a preschooler (4 1/2 yrs. old) and a 2nd grader (almost 8) if they were using books for their level?

we used to own it.but my kids never used it so we got rid of it, i think the problem is i got it when it first came out and my oldest was only 3and not interested. i wish i would have kept it though because i think now that she's 6 she would love it. i think it would definatly(sp?) be suitable for your kids.
we have the leap pad and the leapster and we pretty much only use them in the car. (we often take long trips to visit family :) ) I think they are great! Kids enjoy it and I can feel good that they are doing something educational.
Plus, when they get sick of a game, they just pop in a new cartridge and the new ones aren't all that much money. Sometimes I trade with other moms I know, too.
Oh, wanted to add that they have a learn to draw and write on the LeapSter which you use the pen to trace/write the individual letters. I haven't seen the other one, so I can't compare them.

I just bought the original leappad for $15 on sale! I was going to get the leappad plus writing but was around $40. Since my dd is only 3 I figure I'll start her off with the basic model and upgrade later. I was also able to find the books on sale as well.
We have the plain Leap Pad. Aaron got it for Christmas when he was almost 3. He LOVED it!! He played with it for hours! But Aaron was the type of child that loved books anyway, so this was just up his alley!! I've not used the one w/the writing on it though.
