Alright Ladies,

I think a lot of us are in that potty training moment! I dreaded doing this with ds, but he's doing really well. But thought I would start this thread just to encourage each other and share tips.

My oldest was trained by my sil, so I really didn't do anything at all. He spent a weekend with her and that was it. I think I had to encourage him a few times at home to sit long enough for number 2 but that was it. So this is kind of my first time training. D will be 3 at the end of August and so it was high time I got going. I've been putting it off for so long!

We started Friday. I got a little potty, put him on it, put on a movie and let him be. He did great. So he stayed on the potty all morning. In the afternoon, I put him in underwear but would not let him on the furniture of the carpet as I didn't trust him. He had one accident but told me about it right away. He just hadn't wanted to sit on the potty. I made him clean up the mess.

Saturday, great start again, dry all night and peed right away in the potty. Had one accident outside but wouldn't admit to it. Oh, and we went into town, he wore a pull up for that. Told us in the restaurant that he had to pee but got scared of the big toilets. Fell asleep on the way home and was wet when he got home. But then he was asleep and had told us he had to go. Will have him stand on the see and pee next time I think. No more accidents that day, did really well. Go up a bunch of times before falling asleep saying he had to pee. Finally did.

Sunday, dry in the morning again (has been wearing pull ups to bed just in case). Did great before church, wore a pull up to church. Used a grown up potty at church sitting on it. Afternoon we were out and he was wet when we got home. We had also played in a spray park. So what was what? Did great in the afternoon but again played the potty card at bedtime. Never did pee, but woke up dry this morning.

Today, woke up saying he had to pee and did. Did again a bit later. Has been in underwear all day. Allowed on carpets and furniture as I think he's getting it. Outside right now, not sure if he will remember but told me a while ago that "there's no pee in me."

Has only had one bm since Saturday though so he should have one today I think. He uses both the kid potty and adult one depending on his mood (we have a little seat that snaps down). So all is going well. For something that I dreaded, it's been way better than I thought!

Honest! He is doing really well. Our DS wants nothing to do w/ his potty except to put toys in it. .....sigh....someday he will be PT..Someday he will be PT!!! someday he will be PT!

LOL, I know, it was so easy with J though. But this afternoon, he stopped playing and ran to the potty. So all is good. It just takes time. LOL

Today is a new day, and so far, so good. He's ran to the potty twice on his own and getting it I think. Time will tell. Anyway, ran across this and laughed so hard. Check it out!

yep, this may be why it's called "training". It takes time to get where you want & see the results you want. It WILL happen :) (now, I just have to keep reminding "myself" this!)

Thanks for all the encouragement Skunkers! I'm not about to do it, but you know, the elimination training in infants makes a whole lot of sense. I could do both at once and be done! LOL...

Was it this hard for our parents and grandparents? It seems they had us trained a whole lot earlier! Were we trained or were they trained to get us to the potty in time because the diapers weren't what they are now?

Whichever, I'll be glad when he's trained and I only have 1 in diapers! And a girl, they're easier right? right? [whatwacko]

We are training DS right now too. 75% of the time he does really well. He is learning to control his pee and poo. He is dry during the night and during naps. He uses the bathroom when we remind him and occasionally tells us he needs to go. But he seems really excited to learn which is wonderful! So much different than with DD. LOL

But I am right there with ya! ;)

I just wanted to give you some encouragement!! And tell you my story. My youngest DD was very hard to train. I think I posted about it way back when. Anyhoo, she showed an interest at 19 mos., so I just followed her lead. By the time she was 2, I was worried and she lost total interest. I finally eased up and let her decide when and two weeks before her 3rd b-day,she decided it was potty time and has done wonderful ever since. My oldest DD was trained by the time she was 2. Children are different I found out. Hang in there, it will happen!!:-D

Thanks Geri. I know, they are all different. Like I said, I had to do next to nothing with my first. D though, he's a different story. It's been a week and we still are having at least 1 accident a day. Yesterday, he did really well, we were out and he was in underwear. All of a sudden, he told me that he had to pee. We found the restroom and he did (big potty and all). His underwear was a little damp, but he stopped himself and was good. At home, the same thing happened, he was a little wet but mostly made it in time. But today, he said he didn't have to pee, so I believed him, and then not even 5 minutes later, he had a puddle. :???: He was mad at himself even though I assured him that I wasn't upset and next time he would make it in time.

So just now, I told him he had to sit on the potty and even though he said, "I have no pee in me", he did! LOL. So it's lot of reminding still and not just asking, it's telling him it's time to sit on the potty.

He has been dry every morning this past week though. So we must be getting somewhere. But it can be so frustrating at the same time. DD wasn't to get into the kid potty so we have to put it up out of reach between uses. But at least he sees it, that seems to help. Sigh... sometimes these little milestones between the big ones are so hard to see.

LOL, just had to add, the google ad at the top of the screen was just on 3 day potty training! LOL. I hate stuff like that. If you buy this, we will tell you how... but not the slightest hint of what it will take! They have the weightloss ones to, their secret for weightloss fast, and all you have to do is buy the program or the book, but you know nothing before hand! LOL, I want to see what the product does before I buy it, and I don't trust the endorsements on the site! Of course they say it's great! LOL

Anyway, just thought it was funny I was on here about potty training and that came up. Now I had better get back to work! LOL
