I haven't pushed Abby to potty train, I've only mentioned peeing in the potty a few times over the last couple of months. And she always said "No, scared poopoo", so I didn't push the issue. But this morning out of nowhere she said "Abby pee in the potty". I was so excited. So I went and bought a potty, and sat her down on it. She literally sat there for an hour without peeing. Then she got up to go and play and I explained that if she needed to pee, then she needed to go back and sit on the potty and pee in the potty. I was cooking supper so i couldn't supervise (that was after waiting an hour for her to pee:roll:). Then 30 seconds after I left the room I heard her whine and say "Aw, peepee" so I quickly ran back in and she was sitting on the potty but the couch was soaking wet . typical, she sits there for an hour and nothing, then gets up and then it comes . But I was glad to see her sitting on the potty afterward, she obviously knew where she needed to be, she just didn't get there in time. I'm just so glad that she is finally ready.:-D

Yay for Abby! She's about 28 months or so now right? Maybe you can send her over to my house to inspire Hannah to be more interested in the potty, lol. ;)

Yeah, she's coming up for 29 months, I think (lost on the months...she was 2 in Feb). I will have a talk with her in the morning  I'm sure she'll love to play with Hannah:-D

Alright Abby! Groupie potty training, woohoo go toddlers!

With 4 boys and my 1 girl, girls have the vote for easiest to potty train by far! By 2 Mandy was on the potty overnight. But also she was number 5 so diapers were definitely not the norm and she may have felt out of place, he he.

The thing that is nice though for boys is they can pee anywhere, that was a great potty training incentive for my boys. Those poor ants.

Anyway, go Abby go literally!

yeah, our boys have been taught to pee on everything. Bri has been out of diapers for 3 weeks now, and has peed in the toilet maybe three times, LOL. That's just the thing with boys, But YEAH, WAY TO GO, ABBY

Just on a side note...I was always paranoid about pee on the furniture when mine were training. Just thought I would mention that I bought a waterproof crib mattress cover or a waterproof "insert size here" cover to protect the cushions so I didn't have to worry. It wasn't really pretty but it worked great! :D

We are FINALLY almost 100% trained...and Matthew is 4 and almost 2 months. Hes' been so close and I just decided this summer while I was off from school that was IT. We simply stopped putting pull-ups on him and he began to wear underwear.

1st day: 3 pee accidents, slept w/pull-up on dry in a.m
2nd day: 2 pee accidents, one poo accident, slept w/underwear, a.m. dry
3rd day: no pee accidents, poo accident, underwear and dry in a.m.
after that, things went pretty eay. Now he is about 95% of the time making it to the potty w/o any accidents.

He was ready, I just don't think we were consistent enough and this summer has given us the opportunity!!

We have a really old leather couch so I'm not too worried about pee on it. I just wiped it down yesterday with disinfectant.

She did it! She pee'd in the potty today! She asked for the potty before bedtime so I stripped her down and sat her on the potty and about 5 mins later she pee'd in it. I was so excited that I twirled her in the air and gave her a great big ol' hug. Dh thinks I went a little overboard on the excitement...heehee....but it's a big accomplishment. So here's a question.....should I do the whole pull-ups thing or just put her in panties? I was thinking just go straight to the panties, but what do you guys think?

Great news!! :-D I say go with what you feel most comfortable with. If you don't really want to deal with the mess (cleaning up the floors, cleaning up furniture, rinsing panties out in the toilet...hehe) I would go with pull-ups. But if you are brave - go for it!!

We used pull-ups with dd and it didn't really help. But when we graduated her up to training pants with plastic covers she did better. With ds, we are just letting him strip his diaper off and go....saving the costs. He doesn't seem to mind. ;)

Undies.

Pull-ups are just glorified diapers. Not worth it. Don't even go there. ;)

I think undies...using pullups for Matthew seemed to delay him. When I finally switched to undies, it went quick. He just didn't like getting messy.

We're on the bandwagon here too. I've had him in pull-ups to give him the idea, but haven't pushed him at all. We've talked about it some though and a friend lent me her kid potty yesterday, so this week we've been talking about peeing in the potty and stuff. On Wednesday night, he had a bath and was standing in the living room naked when he said he had to pee. So we ran to the potty and he did it. The this morning, he told me he had to pee and did so very soon after I put him on the potty. I had him stay on the potty all morning, watching movies, drinking water, etc. At one point, he said, "I'm peeing", so he did. He was there anyway. Then he was getting tired of that, so I put him in underwear and let him run around. He told me about 5 minutes ago that he had to pee and is sitting on the potty, but so far nothing. I'm keeping him off my furniture and only in the non carpeted areas of the house (which is most of it) for easier clean up. Right now he's playing with lego while he sits on the potty! LOL I think he's a little worried that he'll have an accident.

I'll do underwear at home but I think pull ups when we have to go out. That will be minimal for the next week or so though, so it should be all good!
