Good evening ladies,

I've got a question about baby movement. I've heard that a baby's activity level in the womb can indicate whether he or she will be an active baby. Is this true or is this just a tale? It is hard to know what is truth and what is not.

If it is indeed true, DH and I will be blessed with a very calm, laid back baby.

TIA.

With all five of mine, this has been true. My most active "fetus" is my most "rambunctious" child... and my most laid back (the newest) is the most laid back outside the womb. :) Each child was different in the womb and they all have that "personality" that they had in the womb... it's amazing. :)

I had two very lazy babies in the womb.....my first didn't start kicking until 22 weeks....my second 21 weeks....and then it wasn't much or often......I had to do a lot of NSTs and BPPs to make sure they were okay because they just didn't move......

As children, they are very active.....my oldest is a non-stop mover.....the youngest is trying his hardest to be a non-stop mover as well....but personality-wise, they are very go with the flow kind of kids......

Hmmm thinking back a time with my gang. I remember all my babies being very active in the womb and well some are more laid back than others. The way I could tell my baby's personality a bit is after birth.

Yikes if I had a screamer in the beginning after emerging from my belly, and wasn't easy to console in the beginning, they are my feisty ones. Yikes feisty! My colicy, energetic, hot tempered middle child came out that way!

But my easy to soothe babies are my calmer ones, thankful the outnumber the feisty ones.

Both of mine were very active in the womb. Abby is still very active, the kid just doesn't sit still. But Micah is more laid back. So I guess for me it was half true.

My oldest was quite active in the womb, always kicking and punching and jumping about, and he came out pretty much the same way. He's a very active little kid[lovingsmiley].

My 2nd born son was 5 times as active and his kicks and punches and hops inside actually HURT much of the time. He came out much the same way. He is a very very very active little boy who is very very very strong[lovingsmiley].

I have to admit though, that I'm kind of hoping for a laid back little girl for future #3. Active is ok, but I'm hoping that #3 will be a little more laid back and easier to console (at least in the beginning) than #s 1 or 2 were. I'm hoping God decides I need a laid back child too, lol.

My vote is....YES, it has been true for my experiences.

Not so true here.

Yogurt was always moving, my 'alien baby'. You know, where you get the BIG massive movements that warp your belly. Yeah. Lots of those. But he's pretty mellow, go with the flow.

Nugget was 'average' in movement. Not overly active, not exceptionally calm either. And he's my wild one.
Doodles was/is about the same. She's not as 'wild' as Nugget, but she's active, that's for sure.

The rest...womb movement has no correlation to what they're like now.

Not so true here. Both of my kiddos were pretty laid back in the womb but once out in about it was a different story. LOL! They both just can't sit still and are always on go. :)

Thanks for sharing ladies!

Like I said before, DH and I weren't sure if this was another one of those pregnancy myths or not (like the heart rate determining sex or like how you carry the baby determines sex, etc.).

Our little lady is very laid back. She didn't really start moving until 21 weeks. Even now, she doesn't move a lot. One day I may feel her once or twice and the next day I may feel her multiple times. And her movements are very subtle and light. It just doesn't seem likes she moves enough to be able to start counting her movements in a few weeks.

Thanks again!

With Em, my first, she was a roller, not always super active, but pretty calm and "laid back" in the womb. She'd move, but nothing overly wild. She was a pretty calm baby, but is now super active. Noah was SUPER active in the womb. I guess most babies with his defects are super active for some reason. Not sure how he was though, poor baby was doped out on Morphine from the start. Makelah is now pretty darn active that I am off the pain meds. She is a kicker, where Noah and Emma were more rollers. Will have to see how she ends up being!

Blessings,
Amber
