I would throw it away. My girl's got too many clothes as it is.

Most items would be a 'goner' here as well. But I know I'm unreasonably attached to a few pieces for sentimental reasons I guess. If it were a special item I'd try harder to work with it. Is it latex paint? If it's not oil based I don't know if paint thinner would help.

This site has a few recommendations (not paint thinner) and if it were just a few spots, I would say to try to get them out. Since it was immersed, though, seems like a lot of work.

I picked other bcuz I would probably keep it as a messy time dress or play dress. Cause then she wouldn't need to mess up any of her other clothes.

I would throw it away, but I can't agree that kids clothes are a dime a dozen. (so, I did not vote)

How in the world did this happen????

LOL! Well, I wasn't there when it happened, but my DH and DD were at my inlaws house and my inlaws have been painting their house. They had an open bucket of paint around and my DD apparently headed straight to it and started getting herself messy. DH ran after her but she had already made a mess and it was too late! I saw bits of paint in her hair later.

So, actually the dress wasn't totally immersed technically, but it did get quite a bit of paint on it from what I hear. (By the time I got the dress back, DH had soaked it in water so a lot of the paint was out)

It would be turned into a dress they always painted in or a cinderella dress or something like that. If it was totally covered and stiff with paint Id chuck it. That happened to us once. We had just moved in here and had masonary paint, left open, by me of coarse. We had a neighbour's grandson just meeting us and playing with the kids for maybe the second time. I went into the loo and noticed there was white paint everywhere. The kid shoved his arms up to his elbows into the paint tin and the next time I saw him he was trying to hide behind some strubs and was only letting his head be seen. I didnt know what to say, there were hand prints everywhere and the poor kids grandad hated me ever since. lol. I apologised profusely but to no avail. They were flabbergasted. lol.

LOL. Well, for anyone who's interested, I totally was able to salvage the dress using the suggestions from the link that Madre provided. I used rubbing alcohol and hairspray and now you really can't tell that it ever got in the paint bucket. It was sure a lot of work, though.

Thanks Madre!
